I have had my Charge 3 for about a week.
When I raise and turn my wrist to check the time, the watch face does not display. If I tap the screen with my finger, then it displays.
I have attempted all wrist motions I can think of, and followed suggestions on this forum for how to turn my arm to get the watch face to show, but nothing helps.
It seems to me it was working the first few days, but has stopped in the last two or three days.
Everything else on the watch is working perfectly. I'm hoping this is just some setting I have accidentally changed, or can set back, and not the early symptoms of a malfunctioning device.

I have the Charge 3 Special Edition with Fitbit Pay. If I press and hold the side button it only brings up Fitbit Pay. I don't have a "wake screen" setting

I'm so sorry that this has not helped you.
May I suggest that you Google you particular fitbit to see if there is something to help you out.
That is how I found out about the 'wake screen'.

On my Fitbit Charge 3 with Fitbit Pay I have to press and hold the side "button", then the lock screen appears. I have to then swipe left to get the screen wake option. It took me forever to figure it out, because everyone said that just pressing the button would bring up the wake option.

I had the same issue until I noticed a dot above the lock symbol and realized that I needed to swipe left on the screen to get to the wake screen and notification options.
When I contacted Fitbit via this forum and Twitter I was NEVER told this.

I tried that, but when I hold the side button I only get the battery level.

I stand corrected. It has the battery level AND the "light bulb" which I now see is the screen wake icon.

Try going into watch faces in the settings and choose one with a clock

My Charge 2 will only turn Notifications on or off doing that. 🥴
