I want to change the name of my Charge 2 when searching on Bluetooth to avoid any problems with some one else’s Fitbit Charge 2 device.

@SunsetRunner WavyDavey is right, there currently isn't a way to edit the name of your Charge 2 in your Bluetooth settings.
This shouldn't be an issue though since Bluetooth bonding is done through the Fitbit App, not through your Bluetooth settings.
Click here for instructions on how to set up notifications and click here for instructions on how to setup Connected GPS. Both processes set up a Bluetooth bond between your Charge 2 and mobile device.
Hope this helps!

To put it another way, you pair a tracker through the app, not the phones Bluetooth search.
To accidentally connect to another person's fitbit you would need to first accidentally log into their Fitbit account instead of your Fitbit account.
Renaming a Bluetooth device, if it is possible, would be done through your phones Bluetooth settings

Well, I accidentally paired with my husband's charge 2. How can I un-pair it?

Go into your phones Bluetooth, remove his tracker from there. Now let you husband set it up again.

You can change the name on your devices Settings.
Open up Connections, then Bluetooth, then select the settings icon next to the device you wish to change the name of. Select Rename and change as required.

I don't know, it does work on android. However your not changing the Bluetooth id of the Charge 2. Your simply changing the reference name on the blue tooth trusted device list.

OK thanks.
Was hoping you were posting about the iPhone.
As I can't find a way to change the Bluetooth Paring name on iPhone.

It took me all of the 3 seconds to type in a phrase and tap enter to get your answer.

The result you've linked are for a generic name change.
The Charge 3 Bluetooth synced name is not available for changing on my iPhone 7 plus.
On that specific dialog.
Other Bluetooth synced names are.
So still looking.

I have JBL Charges and I can fortunately change the names of those so I can differ from my Fitbit to my speakers. So if JBL didn’t offer this then yes, there is a reason to need to change the name of the Charge 2,3,4... Fitbits, since on Bluetooth the name appears as “Charge 3”

I would think the name may be changed in the normal
Open the phones Bluetooth.
Find the name of the tracker.
Tap settings.

On iPhone 12 in iOS 14, there is no “Name” field for me to change when I follow these steps.

Nor
iPone 11 Pro Max
using FitBit 2
or Fitbit 3
Maybe Fitbit 4?

My instructions above are for android.
Now since the renaming is down in the operating system, and has nothing to do with the Bluetooth device. I went to my friend Google and found this page.

LOL!
You've just repeated the same reply with no further iPhone to change the FitBit name help or content.
You have to be smart enough to know how to use Google to be friends with it.
Being the first to reply or to reply without taking another 30 seconds to read the other responses or using continued condescending tone does not qualify.

It does say to make sure that the Bluetooth device is connected.
Fitbit, to save battery only connects when needed. This may be why there isn't a rename function..
You may want to try slurring a sync.
In android the device only needs to be a trusted device.
In any case, the rename function is always a function of the Phones Bluetooth and not fitbit which will only setup with the devices default name.
