"Driving" activity not deleting mistaken floors.....

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi - a few weeks ago, I was able to delete 'mistaken' floors by logging the activity of Driving to cover the time the supposed floors were supposedly climbed Cat Tongue.  Over the past couple of days I have tried to do the same - both just entering the word Driving and, following instructions from other posts, including the inverted commas: "Driving". It's logging the driving, but NOT wiping out the floor count Cat Frustrated. I am definitely using the correct date, time etc.  Whilst I'm on the subject, when adding Driving a few weeks ago, I didn't have to enter a calorie count....now I do (so I just stick in a random number)....what's going on?Smiley Mad

P.S. I'm not trying to add driving via the 'activity record' tab, but via 'logging activity'

It's great to see you around @Mitramonday. Now there's an easier way to negate that extra information. I recommend downloading the app "DriveBit", this app will negate the information registered automatically to your Fitbit account. You don't need to manually log this activity anymore.

So, Fitbit disable the original work-around of adding 'driving' to your activity log which used to cancel out the floors, and bring out a new app that - according to the reviews - doesn't work (and costs 79p without the ads)????? Even if it worked, we have to remember to activate - and deactivate - the app each time we get behind the wheel? I won't be going for that - and I'm NOT a happy Fitbit user....

Actually, we don't disable the option to manually log the activity @Mitramonday. You can continue doing this manually without an inconvenience. Also, DriveBit is a free app that you can download from your phone. If your floors are not going down after manually logging driving, I recommend checking if your app is updated. Can you tell me which phone are you using so I can provide you the correct instructions to update it?

Hope to hear from you soon. Woman Happy

But, as you can see from my original post, manually logging 'Driving' is - now - NOT deleting the floor count during that time!!  Otherwise I wouldn't have written the post?! I'm trying to log the activity on my AppleMacbook Pro using Safari....I can't see where I would log it on my iPhone 5c? The free version of DriveBit doesn't work either, according to the reviews - so I really don't want to go down that route. While we're on the subject of floors...the floor I climbed yesterday at around 21:00 hasn't been recorded?!

Hey there @Mitramonday let me help you out, Driving will only delete steps and floors and calories will remain so by logging this activity it should work just make sure to enter the amount of time that you want to get rid of it, on your iphone tap on the exercise tile - then tap on stopwatch - log - enter driving, if you still unable to log it take a screenshot where you get stuck at.

Catch you later!

Sorry - I got tired of waiting on this post, and found my answer (or partially) on a different post....seems I have two 'driving' options in the drop-down menu, one of which is an accidentally-produced custom activity and that will NOT delete floors, whereas if I choose the other 'driving' from the drop-down menu, that works!  Shame I can't now delete the defunct custom 'driving'....

Thanks for getting back @Mitramonday! Sometimes when you log a driving activity it won't remove your floors if it isn't within the time frame when you record the floor, sometimes is better if you log the activities 15 minutes before you drive and 15 minutes after you finish driving.

I have the same problem.  I try to delete the floors by logging driving but can't get the times right.  If I log 15 minutes before and after the time stamp on the floor, that's 30 minutes of steps that I loose.  What is the point of that?  How can I find out better what minutes the floors were logged so I only have to delete those minutes.

P.S. the whole point of having a tracker is so that I don't have to keep track and then go fix them.  I am very dissapointed in this function.  I sit for far too long trying delete floors and get extrememly agitatied about them not going away.

Hey you @mnaside, I'm glad to see you around Woman Very Happy! As you may know, it is not possible to delete steps and floors, but you can achieve the same result by negating them:

  1. Log into your fitbit.com dashboard.
  2. At the top of the screen click Log > Activity.
  3. Find the data you want to negate by selecting a date range.
  4. In the activity menu, type in "Driving" and enter the duration and start time.
  5. Click Log Activity. Your steps, floors, and calories burned will decrease for the time period you specified.

Typically, your steps will be recalculated if you manually log an activity as the manually logged activity takes precedence over the steps you tracked while wearing your tracker at that point in time. For example, if I am wearing my Fitbit and walking and I reach 10,000 steps, then I go to the computer and manually log an activity that starts and ends at that point in time for say 1 hour, Fitbit will calculate how many steps you took and it may bring my step count to something below 10,000 steps (so, be careful with the time logs).

On the other hand, thanks for your feedback and comments about the point of having a tracker is to record the correct data. We're constantly striving to improve Fitbit products and services, and we very much appreciate all of the input we receive from our customers. The best place to make your voice heard is the Ideas board on our community, which our product development teams consult regularly to ensure we're delivering on what our customers need and want. Please take a moment to visit and give us your feedback.

I found the "Add "Driving Mode" Feature to avoid erroneous steps/floors" suggestion that another member has already created. If you find that an idea you want to implement in the future, you can vote for the idea and add your comments. Our product team looks forward to reading and incorporating your suggestions into future versions of Fitbit trackers and apps.

Fitbit glitched when I tried to manually enter activity and said I burned an extra 3000 calories. In order to fix it ,Fitbit recommends to enter a five activity  Unfortunately  and to my EXTREME displeasure, it deleted any floors I was keeping track of during that time. Fitbit doesn't tell you that  Now my goals are freaking ruined  Thanks alot Fitbit!
