Fitbit Tracker: Inspire HR
Connected Device: Samsung Galaxy S9
I've been having an issue where I log an exercise and it lowers my step count for the day. For example, today I have about 4,300 steps so far (post exercise). I went on a little 30 minute hike this morning. Afterwards I went into the app and logged the hike with the time, duration, and distance. Then the app reduced my daily step count to around 3,000 steps. When I delete the exercise, the regular step count (4300) returns.
Is there something I can do to still log my exercise but not erase the steps I did?

@deathmoonpanda It's nice to have you on board! Sorry for the delay in my reply.
Let me help you logging your exercises on your Fitbit app. When you manually log an activity it will overwrite the data your tracker recorded for that period. I suggest you use the exercise option on your tracker to record your walks and runs with it. This should provide the correct step count and have the activity logged on your account.
Let me know how it goes.

@deathmoonpanda thank you for the update and sorry for the delay in mine.
You can track other exercises with your tracker, you can check its settings or the link I previous provided to see these options. When logging activities usually step based activities will grant steps. If you wish to suggest changes for this feature then you can share your idea in our Feature Suggestions board. Search for the idea first to see if one already exists so you can add your vote. The more votes an idea gets the more likely the developers will try to implement it.
Keep me posted.

When did starting the exercise option on my tracker become necessary? My Fitbit used to capture my exercise. Today I logged a walk as exercise, and Fitbit took of over 3000 steps. So, it captured the walk, didn't count it as exercise, and then apparently decided I didn't walk as much as it originally logged. What in the world is going on? I want to take the thing off and throw it away. I've been using a Fitbit tracker for years, and given them as gifts, but I am hating the thing lately. It has been unreliable.

I have my Fitbit set to recognize a walk after 15 minutes, so with that my walk today should've logged as exercise. It didn't, but it has in the past. Why have that feature if it's unreliable? This is frustrating.
