Fit bit inspire 2 on windows 10 app problems

I just purchased a inspire 2 for my elderly father who has no smartphone but uses windows 10. I set it up and it worked, somehow he has managed to do something and now it won't sync, he just gets the fitbit logo. I asked him to remove the device from the app and set it up again but it won't find the device. Now I read that On October 13, 2022 we're removing the option to sync your Fitbit device with the Fitbit Connect app on your computer.

Am I wasting my time trying to get this working, is this really the end for the Windows 10 app and an inspire 2? There was no warning when I downloaded it just days ago? Thanks

Hello @Paul_barr

Unfortunately it is indeed true. Fitbit recently announced that it is ending all syncing with Windows 10 on October13, 2022. The only solution is that you’ll need a compatible iPhone or Android. The set up requirements and Fitbit App compatibility can be found here:https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/technology/compatible-devices

Thanks for the confirmation Megabite.

Looks like there is no point trying to get it working on Win 10, I'm going to have to get him a phone.

Hello again @Paul_barr

Getting your dad a phone is the best option. But, although it won’t sync to your dads Windows 10 he can still come to the online dashboard here to see his stats in a much larger font then he would be able to on a phone. The phone of course is needed for the syncing but (like me as well) as you become older seeing things in larger font is easier on the eyes.

@Paul_barr   The compatible devices include tablets.  If he has access to a secure wireless network, you will save yourself some money by getting a wi-fi only tablet.  Your dad will definitely prefer the larger screen on a tablet compared to a phone.

Yes I did think of that but my guess is once he gets a phone he will wonder what he was so afraid of, if he can see the watch to play with settings he can see a smartphone.  Still got good eyesight at 93!

Thanks his eyesight is fine just doesn't want a smart phone but as you say he does not need to use it as a phone, I already bought him one, it will be connected to his wifi only.

Wow @Paul_barr! 🤩 93 years of age…that’s absolutely fantastic! I have an elderly Aunt who was afraid of using a phone for the first time. She held on to her landline forever. She finally got the hang of it and actually got rid of her landline…progress 😂
