So before I get started I would like to make sure this is clear. I do, in fact, understand I burn a certain amount daily by just being alive and breathing. About 2880 calories to be exact.
So my fitbit is telling me that I burned 6402 calories total on Sunday even though I only walked 17000 steps that day. If I do the math (Total calories - BMR and then / by steps) I burn a calorie every 5 steps. That, to me, sounds wrong. On top of that, according to an article I read online a 250Ib male burns around 1175 calories for 17000 steps. Is there any way to fix this issue?
On top of that issue my fitbit will sometimes count my heart rate when it is in air and not on my wrist. As soon as I put it on my wrist the hear rate does not change (keep in mind it is off my wrist for 5 minutes and then put back on). This makes me feel as if it is barely even giving me my heart rate instead of just the displacement over time and giving me a rough estimate.
These are two things I would really like fixed, otherwise I do not even see the point in wearing the fitbit at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Ryne1243 A warm welcome to our Community!
Let me help you with your caloric burn calculation and heart rate. I suggest you clean the back of your device with cotton and rubbing alcohol and restart it. Turn the heart rate off, save and sync then turn it on save and sync again. Also check these tips to improve the heart rate reading on your device. Improving the heart rate reading should help with the calories calculation as this also affect is estimation.
Let me know how it goes.
