Fitbit Inspire HR not tracking sleep properly

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I bought my Fitbit inspire hr on Feb 1. I’ve spent a lot of time and effort getting it to work properly. Recently the sleep tracking function quit working. Fitbit says sorry it’s been over 45 days so not out problem. Not a way to get a good reputation. The inspire should be called the UNinspired, it is a very flawed product. Fitbit knows it is and they don’t care. Don’t waste your money on this product.

Yeah the customer service was less than helpful. Even after I told them about the troubleshooting I did they had me do it again and more and had me wait 3 days to see if it would start tracking my sleep, when it still didn't work. Very very disappointed in this product.

I am now on my 2nd Inspire HR.  Received this one free with my OTC pharmacy  with my Medicare Humana Plan.  This one is having the same problem as you...for a few days I get the simplied version of sleep Awake, Restless, Sleep.  With the other one I had 6th months of detailed sleep and then it disappeared to simplied or not.  When I contacted the help phone number the man was hardly speaking English and just kept saying give it a couple of days and then if the fixes don't work, call us back.  What a terrible attitude.  Maybe they think the $100 cost is nominal, but I am retired and it adds up quickly.  I had tried all the fixes numerable times before calling them in the first place.  I did read at one time that now we have to purchase the yearly plan to get detailed sleep.  Anyone out there have answers to that?  I have a friend who has had hers for over a year with no problems and doesn't pay anythng extra.  She has full sleep details.  Very frustrating.

Sounds like lip service from Fitbit.  I would like to know if there is a fitbit that track sleep in detail all the time that won't break the bank when purchasing.  Really disappointed as the first Inspire HR did track well for about 6 months.  Then pouf it was gone.

Well has Fitbit figured out the problem with the Inspire HR and not tracking detailing sleep as yet.  I am on my 2nd fitbit and same problem...I want something more reliable.

I reset it and only had issue one more time.

After doing a reset, I have had it happen only once. I have had mine running well for over a year now. And no I do not pay for the extra fitness service. Hope this helps.

I hope so- I reset it multiple times. Customer Service had me reset with heartbeat on, then off, then on again. Tonight will be the test, otherwise I said I want a new one as others have done which seems to work- maybe I have a lemon. They gave me a case number to call back on if doesn't work. I'll know in the morning!

My Fitbit inspire often miscalculated my starting sleep time. I edit it each time there’s a mistake. Now it says I can no longer edit. Is there anyway to override this? I don’t understand why it doesn’t log the correct beginning of sleep time. I should be able to edit whenever I want.

Today is August 6.  I have had my Inspire HR since July 25.  The nightly Sleep Score is of particular importance to me.  The device recorded my sleep correctly every night until last night, during which it missed the first 2 plus hour of sleep (showed sleep starting at 1:04am and I was sleeping soundly hours before). I wear the band on the same wrist and in the same place.

Can you please tell me how to remedy this situation asap? I have seen some moderator posts suggesting the band be looser and others saying it should be tighter.

Please advise.

I don't know what to tell you. I had good readings until June 20th. Since
then I have only had a couple of nights that my second fitbit in a year's
time gives deep and REM sleep. All the other nights are restless, awake,
asleep. I have tried to find answers and solutions which are many on the
blog, but to no avail. I've tried everything. Have even interacted with a
phone call to Fitbit and they don't seem to care...of course as they
already made their money.

Please let me know if you find out what works...I have literally tried
everything I've read and heard...

Good luck.

I learned two things from a guy at the call center who fixed same issue: reset with heartbeat on, then reset with heartbeat off, then reset with heartbeat on.  That's what worked!  The second thing he said is to NOT tell the watch when going to sleep, just leave the watch on when going to sleep and don't do anything special.  Of course synch it in the morning too.  Let me know if these help!?

Thank you! Mine has been working well for months, but if this issue
happens again, I will try that recommendation of resetting with heartbeat
on, then off, then on again. I appreciate the info.

Thanks, I am trying that...have reset before with the on and off heartbeat,
but not "on" "off" "on". I didn't have any problem for the first 6 months,
it read perfectly, then we went on a road trip and by the time I came home,
the watch did do diddly. SO through my health insurance I was able to get
another watch for nothing. It worked for a day or two, then the same thing
happened.

I have a scheduled period when sleep is scheduled, but it is not the time
we go to bed. Will try that also. Thanks for the input...greatly
appreciated.

Hope it works.

I’m having the same issue. It worked most of the time for a few months. Then when I reached out to Fitbit support because it had stopped tracking my sleep they just gave directions about ways I could improve the way i wore it that were you’re wearing it too tight or too loose or switch it back to the Fitbit band. I wouldn’t have spent money on the tracker and accessories if I knew it wasn’t going to work as promised. I prefer the size and shape, but it says I’m awake when I’m asleep. It doesn’t show sleep cycles. It shows my heart rate as one thing on my wrist and records it differently in the app. It has left a red rash where the heart rate monitor is when it gets damp between the tracker and my skin.

I was so pleased with it initially. It did help me realize ways to improve my health. I have been setting challenges for myself and with friends. Overall I have been healthier since purchasing a tracker. I just wish it worked consistently. The only non-Fitbit accessory I own is a charger that has a built-in stand.

I'm having the same problem with my Inspire HR. I've reset and reboot it many times. The sleep tracking is not working!! Is there any solution for this?

I also am fairly new to all of this, but I am coming to this from a different fitness tracker....so not new to fitness trackers.  I transferred because this one was supposed to hook up automatically with Weight Watchers (save me some time and stress), but this device has been CRAZY difficult.  It keeps losing sync with WW and with its own Fitbit APP.  I followed these directions yesterday after a full week of no syncing to anything.....I still have ZERO sleep data.  I did eventually get my activity data back for the previous week....but I dont have access to anything else, AND still no sleep data even for last night.  Come on guys, really?!  Why is this thing that is supposed to be *the best* not even working at a basic level.  This is seriously crazy making......and you can bet that when the name Fitbit crosses my lips, it is NOT complimentary.  (BTW mine is a Fitbit Inspire 2) Howdo I restart my Fitbit device?

If you experience any of the following issues and you've checked your settings, restart your device:

  • Won't sync
  • Won't respond to taps, swipes, or button press
  • Won't track steps or other data
  • Won't show notifications or reminders

Restarting your device turns it off and on without deleting any activity data.
