Inspire 2 “water lock”.

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Thousands of people have complained about the “water lock” setting and how useless it is! Nobody wants it, nobody uses it and it is very frustrating yet Fitbit refuses to address the issue!  Fitbit apparently did not research it or test this fully before launching the water lock setting. I and many many other people that have the Inspire 2 would like it replaced with a more balanced and   useable product. I like Fitbit products (except the Versa light of which after many complaints they discontinued) but I am going to try a new smart watch from a different company! I have tried to contact Fitbit directly many times but was unable to. I keep being directed to the “community page” which is of no help. The page is inundated with the same complaints but nothing gets done!

Hi, @Zoecal , I appreciate that you are frustrated with the water lock, but I am not sure what your issues are.

My understanding is that the water lock was introduced because the devices that have this feature are touch and swipe screens rather than button controlled.  The effect of the water on the screen could mean that it is activated unnecessarily and that is why the water lock feature was introduced.  I can assure you that it was very much wanted.

If you would like to explain what your particular issue with it is - I know that as with any feature it does not work perfectly for everyone - someone might have further thoughts. I guess that is why Customer Support has directed you to the Community pages.  Lots of people have tips on how to use the various features.  Maybe someone can help you with this one?  (if only to let you know that for some it is just what was wanted and working well - if that’s the case!)

Today is my first day with the Inspire 2 and I already regret it!!

While folding towels earlier, my Inspire 2 buzzed and showed water lock on the screen. I ignored it.

While grocery shopping, it buzzed every few minutes - I would check to see if it was a message and EVERY TIME it showed water lock. Getting on my nerves at this point so I started counting. In the last hour - it has buzzed and shown water lock 13 times!! Why??!? I've been walking around my house, sorting mail, and putting stuff away

Every time it buzzed, there was nothing touching the screen. Sitting here typing this message while it has displayed water lock 3 times!!

I have owned 4 different fitbits over 7 years and haved loved each one more than the last - until now. I was so excited to have a new one but in only a few short hours, this waterlock issue has me ready to return it to the store tomorrow morning.

Julia, there are massive threads on this issue in here. The Water Lock prompt is happening to lots of us multiple times a day. If it could have been deleted automatically if we removed the Swimming activity, or was togglable on/off via a menu, it wouldn't be a concern.

Julia,

The issue is…..with just the slightest bend of the wrist, this option engages. I am no where near water. While I am vacuuming, while I ride my bike, while I play racket sports, while I use weight machines, while I work in my yard….again no where near water. At times it gets locked into the “water lock” position, and it is difficult to reset! So therefore it is an annoying option! I like every other aspect of this tracker……BUT NOT THE WATER LOCK! Maybe for a swimmer it might be OK, (although I have not read a swimmers point of view) but not for the majority of Inspire 2 users.

Via my profile, look for my comments in one of other big threads on this. I've posted a 'solution' using an alt strap which does work.

Do you know if anybody has tried to return their device to be repaired or replaced under warranty? I have the water lock issue too and don’t see much help from Fitbit.

I'm using an off brand leather strap but the Water Lock is still a problem. I have problems just accessing the screen to see the time. And today there was no sleep recorded but I slept for over 8 hours. The Inspire 2 is simply A LEMON and we are all stuck with it. I have my old Inspire HR and I think I'm going to go back to that and stick this piece of junk in a drawer. I see absolutely no improvement in it over my old one except battery life and a charger cord that clips on.

Hello: Girl Friday84, Did you know you can go on to Youtube and they can walk you through using the Inspire 2 tracker? Even show you what a Water Lock does? I thought it meant to drink more water? Yep, This is my 2nd Fitbit tracker I still have the ONE but was going to delete it, but new to learning from this inspire 2 tracker.  But you might have to go into your settings and turn off the swimming app. You can only use 6 items that are to work along with your tracker.  I hope this helps you, GirlFriday84 :}

I took the Inspire 2 back after readingnearly 100 complaints about it
randomly promting for the water lock. I originally wanted the Charge 4
anyways so I exchanged it that next day and couldn't be happier!! I
absolutely LOVE the C4.

I was recently told I had to reset my password, which I did and it said all was well.  However I have not been able to even get in my account since then and it is not registering any of my days of activity even though I have been wearing the watch every day.  Nothing since I changed the password and it won't accept the old or the new password to even communicate.  I am very frustrated and at this point the watch is useless.

@Julia_G You're not sure what the issues are?

Okay, so, here's what happens to me. Every single time I press the side buttons to turn on my Inspire 2, the screen pointlessly reads "Water lock," with no indication of what this is supposed to mean, or whether my device is actually somehow locked or not, no specific way to deactivate it. I simply press and tap and tap and press until the device lets me do something other than water lock.

If you think people wanted this, well, that's really interesting. Have a good day anyway. You're beautiful.

Good Evening joy.shreyer1935:  For the Inspire2 you might have to make up another password? 2. Turn on your Bluetooth, then check your Bluetooth to accept your Fitbit Inspire 2 It will say searching then it will say connected.   3. Then Inspire2 will send you a 1-time only 4-digit code number. 4. Put that 4-digit code number on your Bluetooth App. Once it has been added you are all set, it will start syncing up. Check the gear symbol in the upper right-hand corner 5. Once it's set up, the app offers an overview of Inspire2 main features, how to change the band, and how to navigate its interface. The entire process only takes about 10 minutes. 6.  Swipe up on the screen to view battery life and daily stats, including your steps taken, distance covered, calories burned, Active Zone Minutes, sleep duration, sleep score, and more. 7. Swipe down to access apps, including Notifications, Exercise, Relax, Timers, Alarms, and Settings.  I hope this helps you, joy.shreyer1935

Good Evening TamaraHK: 1. The water lock/ Water Mode (which locks the screen when you're in the water), When I'm about to wash my hand's mine turns on. When you close/lock it= It protects Inspire2 from getting wet. 1A. The Screen Wake (which lights up the screen when you turn your wrist toward you. 2. Pinch both sides of the device to return to the clock face from any app or screen. Pinch and hold both sides of the device to access standard settings, 3. Do Not Disturb (which mutes calls, texts, and other notifications),  4. Sleep Mode (a new feature on the Inspire 2 that mutes notifications and prevents the screen from lighting up when you turn your wrist at night). 5. Swipe up on the screen to view battery life and daily stats, including your steps taken, distance covered, calories burned, Active Zone Minutes, sleep duration, sleep score, and more. 6. [Swipe down to access apps, including Notifications, Exercise, Relax, Timers, Alarms, and Settings.  You can also check on YouTube.com for more info on Inspire 2. This is what I did for myself. I hope this helps you, TamaraHK
