Inspire HR: Step accuracy

Hello,

I am using my Inspire HR only a few days, but find that the step count is way off. Only today I put the Inspire to charge and already the count show 1.662 steps. (1.32KM) We do not have a small house, but to walk that many steps will not happen. This was my confirmation of suspecting the same during the past few days. Since I used the Inspire, it gives me consistent way more steps, and distance, than I actually did. Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks.

Hello
That must be a misunderstanding, I didn’t suggest that, fitbit support did,
I think it is rubbish, to have to do anything manually, that the Inspire
should be able to do according to soecifications.

Perhaps Fitbit needs to hire the software programmers that create the gadgets we wear on our waist...?

If you have an Apple Watch you can count your steps  At the  primary Activity screen, scroll down with the digital crown (the rotating dial on the  side of the Apple Watch  to reveal the pedometer feature, you'll see your steps  count under “Total steps. This might be of help ma’am 🙏🏿

I've never used a step counter before I initialized this today. After wearing it for an hour literally doing nothing but reading at a standing desk and using a restroom less than 15 feet away, it registered 77 steps. That's when I found this thread and based on comments here it seems like this device may have false-positives that others don't. I guess I'll just hope the all stats are accurate enough? What IS *accurate enough*? I wish the customer service reps would do more than imply people aren't hacking their devices properly, or simply insinuating that people who report hundreds of steps being recorded during sleep must have been making certain kinds of motions during that time and forgot to account for it. (I mean, it's plausible, but if your device is giving bad reads don't pull that.)

I'll probably return this within a week if there's not a promised fix. I know 77 steps isn't much for a day, or even an hour of brisk walking, but a single hour of basically standing still... Maybe the $100 price-point was an overreach? If it were $120 could you have made it, you know, work?

It seems to count my steps fine when actually walking. Haven't tested it jogging or running. I hope there's a way to easily activate/deactivate the step counter and edit batches of false positives. Based on what I've skimmed through about the Inspire HR, that doesn't seem to be the case. But I'm going to try my best to 'settings' this to a 'sort-of' level of accuracy before getting a refund.

Even taking off the device doesn't help. Took off my hr while driving. It still racked up over 1000 steps.

I'm having the same issue. Only bought my inspire hr two days ago. Very disappointed. Thought maybe I had a faulty one but it looks like they are all the same. Glad I checked online for clarification.

Hey Fitbit I just got myself today the Samsung Galaxy Fit, paid exactly the same as for Inspire HR (returned months ago). I don't appreciate and won't support company who ignores all the reasonable complaints, who takes customers for granted. I do trust Samsung won't disappoint me 🥰

No wonder I am not losing weight. It gives me credit for burning far more calories than reality. When driving or typing counts as several miles a day, the calories given must be way off too over each week.

I had such hopes for this device. I like the sleep tab, to see what kind of sleep I am getting, but it does me no good for weight loss. Guess I'm back to carrying phone everywhere to get a count.

Hi
I have Flex 2 and Inspire. Both are having issues with accuracy of
distance. Support keeps suggesting I reset them. Did and nothing changed.
Someone suggested Samsung Galaxy Fit and I bought it to try it. Will update
with results. Support will not feel compelled to look for solutions until
many of us decide to do something about it.
