After new 13 update my Fitbit stopped getting notifications, but this fixed the problem for me. 
Go to:

Settings>

Notifications >

messages >

show previews >

always > or when unlocked

I followed instructions re: loss of text messages on Fibtbit Inspire HR - when I came to 'notifications' in the list of steps to-do, there was no "message' choice.  Please assist.

It should be there, did you scroll all the way?
It’s between random apps.
