Inspire HR play button not working

Hi 

 

my inspire HR has developed two issues in the last couple of days: 

1) I cannot start tracking an activity from the Fitbit because the it does not recognise me tapping the play (triangle) symbol on the Fitbit touch screen to start the activity. It recognises me tapping the screen to choose an activity but I can’t start it. 
2) I if press the button on the Fitbit to wake it up and see what the time is or start looking at stats the screen light keeps flashing on and off for several minutes afterwards. I can’t make it stop and then it will turn off eventually if it’s own accord. 

I have tried restarting (in line with the guidance on restarting - plugging in charger and holding down button and seeing smiley face) several times and it has not rectified these issues. I have also made sure that the most recent updates on app/software are completed. 

has anyone else had these issues and been able to fix them? 

my Fitbit is a year and half old.
