Missing altimeter/floor count

Many of us posted a need to have floor counting as part of the next Alta version because we didn't want the bulky Charge. So disappointed to see a new model replace the Alta without that feature. Fitbit was able to fit altimeter in the One so should be able to fit it into the new Inspire. Looks lovely but will not buy, would not have gotten Alta if it was clear it was a step back from my One instead of step forward. Everyone beware as your feedback seems to fall on deaf ears at Fitbit.

The One isn't exactly bulky or thick.  They could have replicated it easily.  What I can't figure out is why Fitbit won't do it.  The original wasn't really expensive.  I think I payed about $89.00 for it when it was released.  It is expensive now because third party sellers take advantage of the fact it was discontinued and people still want it.

There is @KC777 , it is called the Inspire. For slightly more than half the price of the Fitbit One, we have a convertible tracker that can be worn on the wrist or as a clip on units on the belt.

You forget to mention that if you want to wear it as a clip on you need to purchase the clip separately so it it closer to the full price of a One without the floor tracking feature.

Just wondering will Inspire HR be able to provide elevation gain without an altimeter when using the connected GPS?

When you go to the exercise details where you can see the elevation change, you see an elevation change graph, but the number is listed as 0 ft.  I looked at several of my GPS connected activities -- this seems to be a graph on the web only.  I don't see this graph on app exercise details.

I too am hugely disappointed that the Inspire HR does not count floors. My One did and I thought this was an upgrade. Soooo disappointed! Why does floors show up on the dashboard if it doesn't show anything?

@bp22_ca  I did not forget, that was a decision Fitbit made based on cost, my guess also profit.

@Geno99  once all trackers that monitor elevation have been removed from your account, the door tile should not be displayed.

Bought Inspire HR two days ago and was really pleased with it - but, after spending ages fiddling with the settings, have just realised that it doesn't count floors!  - and, for medical reasons, this is one of the main things I need to monitor - much more important to me than many oof the other fancy add-ons.  Even if not totally accurate as others have said, it would still be very useful for day-to-day comparison.  My 'phone does count floors, of course, but the idea of the Fitbit was to have something that would be with me all the time, even cleaning the house.  So disappointed!

Sorry to hear this @Blackcat99 but that is where a little research comes in handy.

Fitbit has a tool to compare trackers and every device has a downloadable manual

You also have a 45 day satisfaction if bought from Fitbit's online store.

Ah, yes - hindsight is a wonderful thing, isn’t it? I spent quite a while looking at various models in local John Lewis with very helpful salesman. Problem was, I never thought to question this particular aspect as - (1) my phone app has had this function for at least four years now and (2) husband’s Fitbit Charge 2 has also had it. I just assumed it was such a basic requirement that no model would be without it!

Black cat, same for me. I've only ever had the one, never knew they made fitbits without the flights option. I was just so excited they made something similar to the one I jumped on it lol. The clip option is most important to me because I like to wear different types of accessories,  and I'd rather my Fitbit be hidden. I will just have to do without this option

@Blackcat99  I'm not sure how basic this feature OS. Considering that Fitbit has never done anything with this data but to display it for the user,  who gets upset if it is to high or to low. To me users place to much importance on this data when Fitbit knows of a good reason nor to use this data for any calculations.

Goodness, Rich! - how silly of me to think that displaying data to the user would be a prime function of the item  - and how silly of me not to appreciate that the manufacturer must always know what is best for me!

You obviously feel very strongly on this issue, so I'm afraid that we'll just have to agree to disagree!

I’m missing floor count too. Am stuck with Inspire because it is the only one with a clip for those of us who do not want to wear Fitbit on the wrist. My One served me well, but us no longer being produced. Bummer!

Me too!  Need clip instead of wristband, so had to give up floor count. Wish the One was still available.

I definitely would not have bought the Inpires for my wife and myself had I known that the Floor Tracker was not included  -  feel cheated !

Some feedback: IMHO, I think Fitbit is ignoring a sizeable chunk of the market, where I'm included, who is not into smartwatches, and wants something tasteful to wear along a traditional watch. When placed side by side with a nice analog watch, smartwatches look absolutely hideous. I wear a Fitbit Alta HR not because is entry level, but because is the most discrete tracker with HR monitoring. I prefer a 2 device solution, an advanced tracker for the gym, and a discrete tracker for the rest of the day, and Fitbit has nothing that entices me to go shopping. Floor counting and water resistance on an Alta HR format and Spotify/podcast player/reliable water proofing on an advanced gym tracker would make me consider an upgrade.

@jpcfernandes your post is about the Alta, which does have floor counts,  but this is the inspire and inspire HR board.

When it comes to the Alta and Alta HR, since it has no external button, the ability to add functions after rather limited

The Charge 3 does have a button,  runs Fitbit OS and only a little bigger than the Alta.  Add a metal band from Amazon and it is rather classy. My sister and aunt also added the same band to their Alta and Charge 2.

Please check the Charge 3 out a lot of what your asking is already included.

The Alta HR does not count floor, I'm very much sure.

The Charge 3 is way larger than the Alta. For me, is the worst of both worlds, too chunky for a fitness band, too small for any "smart" features.

My point was about the Inspire, I'm reasonably happy with the Alta HR. I think that positioning and designing the Inspire as a budget tracker misses a sizeable market that wants a discrete daily fitness tracker within the Fitbit ecosystem that looks good alongside a traditional watch.

No, my post was addressing the disappointments with Inspire. Never mentioned Alta.
