Sleep and update not working

My Fitbit inspire HR is not tracking all of my sleep and when I click on check for updates it says there is an update and it will take several minutes to install. But when I click continue it goes back to the previous screen and an error message pops up that says unexpected error: your Fitbit is up to date

Let me help you with your Inspire not recording your sleep nor updating. Try refreshing the link between your phone and your tracker to help it update by doing the following:

 

  1. Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  2. Restart your phone and restart your device
  3. Check that no battery saving app/feature on your phone is affecting your Fitbit app.
  4. Also, on an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.

Regarding the sleep detection, your device will start recording sleep after it detects an hour of inactivity. If you have a light sleep or move too much then this may difficult your sleep detection. Additionally you can try wearing your device on your non dominant hand to decrease the amount of movement it is subjected to. Finally you can restart your device. You can also manually log your sleep time. You can read more about sleep detection here.
