I record my 10-11 mile commute, by selecting Exercise > Bike > start on my Inspire HR.
Once complete, I finish up the ride on my Inspire HR
After completing my ride, the step count has increased by about 3000 steps, even though I told the Inspire that I was biking.
Any thoughts how to prevent this double counting from happening?
Thanks!

Hi @Duppie Unfortunately biking 'steps' are a fact of life! The tracker feels bumps in the road and thinks you are taking steps. I guess it is not intelligent enough to decide if you are biking you wont be walking! Basically you are stuck with them as there is no way to remove them without also removing the bike activity.

I'm new to wearing an activity tracker and had the same experience... A bit of a disappointment for me as my iPhone 6S seems to be very well able to discern cycling from walking and is not counting it as steps...

The same thing happened to me. Inspire HR counted +1600 steps while I was cycling even when I was tracking the bike ride.
I just compared it to my Charge 2 and the Charge 2 tracks barely +300 steps while I'm cycling the same route.
Cycling steps are facts of life? Seriously?
Sorry but this defeats the purpose of having a tracker. Acknowledging it doesn't work properly is not a solution...

The same thing happens to me when I'm "Spinning" on my stationary bike. Yesterday, 35 minutes of spinning gave me 849 "steps". There needs to be a way to either manually remove steps from the periods of time you weren't actually walking, or FitBit needs to be smart enough to disable step counting when you tell it you're doing non-step related exercises!

Good ride today, Fitbit added 10,000 steps. Ridiculous. How do we raise the issue with? Who do we contact?

I really don't understand why steps aren't excluded when cycling. I can create a "driving" event for the time I was cycling and it will zero out all the calories I burned, it seems like removing the steps counted during a period would be just as easy. Further, I notice when I look at the dashboard, the exact steps that were counted when I was cycling are noted on the activity...and I can therefore exclude them manually...why not do it automatically?

That's bad software design at its finest! My main activity is mountain biking and I logged in 15000 steps on Monday on top of my 14 km ride!
Dissatisfied and disappointed, I will be returning my Inspire 3 after owning it for only a week.
Blah...

I just hung up with Paula from Customer Support and she escalated my complaint. I should get an email from the "team" in the next 24 hours.
Will keep you posted
