I just got my fitbit inspire and was amazed to see that I had walked over 16000 steps yesterday. When I looked at my steps app on my phone, it only showed around 11500. Then I checked while I was sitting and moving my arm and each time I moved my left arm I got another step. That’s crazy. Can this be fixed?

@lorawil It's nice to have you on board! Sorry for the delay in my reply.
Let me help you with the variation of steps you are seeing on your tracker. For the first part I would like to know if you have any third party apps linked to your account or do have you logged any activities? These scenarios may override the steps that your tracker may have detected so this could explain why they are decreasing.
Regarding your arm movements counting steps, your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. There are situations in which your arm may move but you won't be actually walking. For example, this may happen when you are playing the drums, burping a baby or clapping. It can also happen while driving. You can negate these steps by logging a driving activity. You can try wearing your device on your non-dominant hand but select that hand as dominant on the device’s settings to make it less sensitive to movement.
Let me know how it goes.
