Just tried this trick and it worked "While using your AirPods (e.g.; listening music), turn down the volume to zero, on your device, go to the Bluetooth settings (e.g.; if it is iPhone or iPad: Settings > Bluetooth) and disconnect your AirPods. ... Then reconnect your AirPods and turn up the volume. AirPods are updated automatically"

I struggled a bit, but it finally worked!
Step 1: Connect AirPods to your iPhone and start playing music. Adjust the volume going up and down, until you have it at your desired volume.
Step 2: Disconnect your AirPods from your iPhone and connect to your Fitbit Versa, then start playing music. It should work now.
The plus and minus signs should also be working now to adjust your volume.
Hope it works!

Exactly the same thing is happening to me. The volume is changed for about 5-10 seconds and I can control with the watch and then it resets itself to super loud again

Followed step by step but they Work together for about 5 seconds and then go back to the loud setting 😞

Hi still a problem for me. I can see the + and - on the screen which recognise I’m touching them (a circle as you touch them) but no change in volume. I also tried putting the volume low on the previously synced device. It’s unbearable even in the non noise cancelling mode

I tried what you said, but my airpods weren't connecting again.
What should I do? I was really excited to finally download music after I got a new computer.

This finally worked for me. Thank you!
For everybody else, make sure that at step 1 you adjusting the volume while playing MUSIC FILE directly in standard iPhone application for a music.

Following those steps and doing it with the standard iPhone application for music (Just apple music I'm guessing) still didnt work. I'd follow the steps, the music would be loud on my fitbit, I could turn it down but then it would just turn right back up after 5 seconds

Hey. I'm very late, but I found a solution.
1. connect with another Bluetooth headphone and change volumes there.
2. connect back to the airpods
3. You should now also be able to change the volume from the airpods through the Versa.
