When My versa 2 just arrived and I used Alexa and it worked for a few times that I tried it. Later on I tried using it again l and now it doesn’t recognize my voice no matter what I say constantly says sorry please try again.

I’ve also tried shutting it off and turning it on again with no luck

is anyone else having the same problem or know a fix?

If you Google fitbit customer service, their 800 number pops up. I just got off the phone with another issue and it's resolved. As for Alexa, I had to be sure both phone and watch were on 2g. Phone was on 5g. When I changed that and restarted things, it finally worked. But if not, I'd call them. Very helpful to talk to a person.

Your app needs to be running in the back ground.. sync your device I don't close the app, then try using Alexa

My app is running in the background and I can click Alexa it just won’t
understand what I’m saying.

Paul,

I have having the exact same issues and have tried the same, still isn't worling for me either

@Paulbabchuk, have you tried connecting your phone to a different WiFi network or even cellular data? I had a similar issue and it turned out it was an issue with my home broadband (maybe a dns issue?), rebooting my router/modem did the trick. Its worth trying if you haven't already done so.

I'm having exactly the same problem. Have just received the versa 2, setup and update went through with no problem, but alexa doesn't seem to respond at all. Have tried resetting to factory defaults, tried on both wifi and 4g connection, tested on another amazon account and still no joy. 😞

I am having the exact same issue. It worked when I first got it and now a week later it is saying that it can not understand what I'm saying and to please try again. I have tried it on 2 different wifi networks and mobile data, double checked all of my settings to make sure bluetooth, alexa, english, and the microphone are turned on and also reset the app and the watch. I don't know what else to do. I got this watch because I was excited to be able to talk to alexa on my wrist. It's really frustrating that it is not working.

The microphone on the versa 2 is probably not very good. I usually have to try the same command three times on my Versa 2 before it works. Then after it works there is a 50% error it will report it is not connected. It seems a successful command sometimes temporarily disconnects the watch.

I have tried talking loudly right next to it, even yelling one of the times just to see if the microphone was having a hard time picking it up. It registers that it is hearing me but then it says it was not able to understand what I am saying. And what I really don't understand is why it up and quit out of the blue when it had been working just fine for the first week of having it.

Yelling into a bad microphone usually does not improve quality. It lessons it. If you where in a phone call and someone said you sounded distorted, yelling into the phone probably would not help.

For a device like this where we don't have the ability to record audio, we have no idea what kind of audio quality Alexa is hearing. All I can say is it must have be very low, otherwise the "announce" functionality wouldn't have been disabled.

Ok, so tried the following:

- Removed Versa2 from account and re-added - Still no joy

- Removed Versa2 from account, and added it to my partners account on a different phone - Still not working.

- Removed it from that phone, removed Fitbit App from my phone, re-installed Fitbit App on my phone which now has a Fitbit pedometer service running (which wasn't there before), and added Versa2 back on - Success. Alexa working as expected.

I'm running Android 9 on a Galaxy S8+ btw.

It is finally working! I had to go in to the app to my versa. Then I had to log out of my amazon account and log back in. I dont understand why it didn't work when I reset the watch and had to log back in as well. But I'm just glad its working again. Thanks everyone for the helpful tips!

It shouldn't be this complex to use or set up..no warning it's not going to work without changing things..
