Battery will not hold a charge

I have had my Versa tracker since Christmas.  I have worn it constantly since then.  At first, I was taking it off to charge every other night and sometimes charging it while I was In the shower.  The battery life was great, lasting 3-4 days at a time until about a week ago.  It shows that its 100% charged when I remove it from the charger around 5:00 am, but then the battery is under 50% by noon and totally dead by 4:00 or 5:00 pm, even after charging for 8+ hours the night before.  I have uninstalled everything on my tracker that can be uninstalled, left it on charge for 48 hours, and cleaned the contact points on my charger and tracker.  Is there anything else I can do to fix this problem, or should I contact Fitbit for a solution? I love my tracker, but it's of no use if it wont stay charged!

I contacted customer support.  I have to do a battery drain test and then contact support again with the results.  Thank you!

Update...I performed a battery drain test. My device's battery went from 100% to 0% in 3 hours. When I tried to charge it again, the tracker became really hot and now, the screen will not turn on at all. I sat it down to cool off & it's getting hotter and not cooling off at all.

Wow, I had to do a battery drain test and mine lasted 5 hours with notifications and heart rate monitor turned off.  It takes almost as long to charge the thing as it does for it to drain.  I would love to know just how many people are having this problem.

I have had my versa for about 8 months. Great battery life which got even better with the recent update allowing up to 5 days. As of 1/21 I am down to less than 12 hours with no change to setup or usage. Today it died by 4pm after being full at 7am. Gone from great to useless in no time.....

@vhia77 Welcome! It's great to see you around! Sorry to hear that your Versa's battery is draining quickly. Try cleaning the contacts using cotton with rubbing alcohol then charge it by plugging it for a couple of hours directly to your computer's usb port (try different ports) or use an UL listed usb wall adapter. After this, restart your device and see how it behaves. You can find additional instructions here.

Let me know how it goes.

Here is what I have learned from my experience with the Fitbit Versa:

1. Make sure that your charger is plugged directly to a power source and
not a charging hub.
2. Clean the leads on the back of your Versa and on your charger.
3. Make sure that the most recent software update has been installed.
4. If all else fails, do a power drain test. Charge your Versa to 100%
and check the battery level every hour. Record the battery level at each
hour until it is totally drained and call Fitbit customer service to report
your results. They will offer to send a replacement to you, which will
likely be a refurbished device that will arrive two or three weeks after
you call them.

So....the best thing to do is to return your device back to the retailer
where you purchased it and get a brand new one. Usually, retailers offer
at least a thirty day warranty. I exchanged mine and the new one works
flawlessly. Good luck!
