Check laps on Versa 2 display while swimming

Hello, I have purchased the versa 2 specifically to count my laps for swimming but when I have gone to use it it doesn’t seem to display them on the screen. Is this not an option as I don’t want to wait until I am back at my phone to be able to see the number of lengths I have done because I Like to do a certain amount

I’d like to see them keep track of distance in real time without stopping. 2 lies isn’t much fun as it is, now I get to do a countdown because my Versa died and I naively purchased the 3 assuming I’d be getting an even better product. But we all know what they say about assuming right?

A very interesting message! Does the versa 3 not display laps either. I returned versa 2 for this reason and bought a garmin. I did a lot of looking into the versa 3 and wondered I’d it tracks swimming live?

I have had two Versa 2 and this one I just got is not tracking my laps but the timer goes on instead. The other two tracked my laps. I don't get it. I will probably return as this is what I mainly use my device for. Too bad that these don't last longer than a year at a time. Hence reason for being my third. I keep thinking they will get it right as I do like the rest of the features very much.

I would suggest a different smart watch for better swimming features. I am now on my THIRD Versa 2 and this last one does not have the same good swimming features as the other two Versa 2. I also do open water swimming in the summer and this watch is clearly not the right one. I would suggest something else that has a good GPS tracking system like the brand that begins with a "G." My two cents. Better to invest more but get something he will really be happy with.

I also had two Versa 2 earlier smart watches that each lasted a year but they tracked my laps. This new Versa 2 does not and I am disappointed. I am going to return and cough up the money for a Garmin. Back to counting my marbles in the meanwhile. Yes, every marble equates to 10 laps. I get a few marbles and line them up and move one over every ten laps. Better than trying to keep track in my head!

It doesn’t currently, only time elapsed. For a single metric that’s nearly useless since basically everywhere has a clock. Timing my own splits and counting my own laps, so glad my upgraded watch has downgraded features.

sidenote: I’m pretty happy with the other tracking features, but the haptic button can be a pain if you like a tight band and the vibration is pretty soft for notifications.

Hey Fitbit, please reinstate the on-screen swim lap counter from the original Versa in the Versa 2. I can’t believe you would remove this basic feature in a supposedly enhanced model!

I agree with this. I replaced my Versa with the Versa 2 thinking it would be an upgrade, but sadly, I'm disappointed that it doesn't seem like that. I used the swimming lap counter onscreen too. Very disappointed with my purchase.

Totally agree with Crthorn89, not even sure why anyone thought it would be a good idea not to show the laps, I wish I hadn’t got mine now because of that!

It disappoints me that Fitbit has not solved this problem. It has been 1+ year and this problem is still unresolved. As a customer of Fitbit and experiencing the same dilemma, it confuses me how Fitbit has not fixed it. Please Fitbit, how please fix this problem.

Give up on Fitbit doing anything about this! Hopeless, I will not recommend Fitbit to anyone and would return the watch I bought last week if I could find out from Fitbit the protocol. It advertises swim stats as part of the watch and having had a Versa 1 I just assumed this would be the same if not better the watch being a supposed upgrade, it is actually a downgrade. Get your act together Fitbit.

This is a pathetic response, how can you downgrade stat collection on a supposedly improved version?????

I upgraded to a Versa 2 in mid 2020 when my Versa screen was damaged.  My local Y is open for swimming after a long COVID closure so I just returned to swimming daily this week after 18 months away from the pool.  I absolutely loved and instantly depended on the live lap counter on my Versa and can NOT BELIEVE it is missing from my Versa 2 and also the Versa 3!!

For lap swimmers a live always-on lap counter is a HUGE deal, so much that many lap swimmers would buy it for that reason alone!  Since the original Versa displayed laps I know it can be done on a fitbit watch successfully.  It is my sincere hope that a software update will return live on-watch lap counters to my Versa 2.  If this is not possible due to some loss in hardware functionality from original Versa to Versa 2/3 I am pleading with the Versa product team to add this functionality back to the next Versa (4??) as I will buy it for this reason alone and give my wife my Versa 2 as she is not a swimmer.

With Versa 1 it worked.  I could see the number of lanes or switch to show meters, etc. on my watch, during (!)  swimming. Unfortunately 2 Versas 1 lost their functuon after ca. 2months of swimming. So I bought versa 3.

With Versa 3 I only see the time and cannot adjust the display while swimming anymore. Definitely want to see the number of laps while swimming.

Is there an update planned? Versa 3 is good watch with nice new functions. But it is also frustrating,  that the newest version has less functions at this point, than the older one.

This is for me a no go, so Unfortunately I would switch to garmin or others.

Many thanks in advance

Hi @Fitbit @RicardoFitbit , thanks for the answer. I saw your post is from 2019. Is there any (SW) update on this planned

Guess there are many users, that fitbit is losing to their competitors through this missing function.

Thanks and best regards

This is very disappointing, I also just bought the versa 2 specifically to view the count of my laps while swimming. Will you guys be updating that or creating an app that can be added to the versa 2 that shows the lap count? I always lose count while I’m swimming and I thought I saw a review of someone swimming with the lap count but now I realize it must’ve been the older version. 😭

@Sandra.a Versa 2 is old model and unlikely lap counting would appear on it. In fact, even flagship models (Sense 2, Versa 4) have no such capability anymore. For swimmers, Fitbit is a poor choice.

Thanks. The annoying thing was that the original versa did have that
capability. I've long since given up on Fitbit.
