There seems to be no rhyme or reason how the rollout is being done, nor how
long it will take. People whose fitbits DON'T have sensors get it turned
on - which does nothing. There is a rumor that all will be done by the end
of January, but we've also heard that some people who've gotten it have
later lost it, and MAYBE later gotten it back. From what we can see, one
of the recent firmware and software updates makes it possible, but it
appears that Fitbit can remotely turn it on and off at will without any
software change. For reasons unknown to me and others, Fitbit seems to
have no interest in getting us viable information about what's happening.
Also, as far as I know, all that we are getting is a 'change' chart under
the sleep page. No actual percentages. I'm not sure that this has any
viable utility - that remains to be seen. Also supposedly, Fitbit will
submit to the FDA it's idea of 'apnea detection' - which is worth waiting
for a bit if it's actually viable. But so far I've heard nothing about
being able to have a watch face or app that lets us see our O2 levels
(approximate) as we move through our day whether at rest or exercising.
Keeping in mind that we are only talking about what you already get from
inexpensive finger clip devices, this ought to be easy to accomplish. And
incredibly useful in helping us spot issues that we may wish to talk to our
doctors about. But for that we don't even know if one of these years we
might get it, let alone when.
