Exercise minutes wrong?

Hi

I did a 42 minute general workout yesterday and started the activity on my Versa as "workout"

It recorded 22 mins fat burn and 22 mins cardio and the usual heart graph and calories etc.

On my phone app, it sees that I did a workout and has recorded it as 1 of my 5 exercise days this week and it lasted 42 mins...so all's OK there.

However, the exercise minutes only shows 13 mins for yesterday.

Am I missing something here and why didn't the exercise minutes show as 42 mins?

Any insight/explanation would be helpful.

@gravydan I see. I would keep an eye on it and just in case reboot the tracker. Other thing to keep in mind is whether the "active" minutes are in a row. I believe it has to be minimum 10 minutes in sequence for them to be counted as active. 🙂 Let me know if it's back to normal next time you work out. This might have been syncing fluke (server side).

@gravydan By exercise minutes you mean active minutes? Active minutes are calculated based on the workout and HR intensity so not all the time you exercise may be actually counted toward active minutes. Please see more here.

Hi @Marrmaduke and thanks for your detailed and informative reply.

Sorry and yes I did mean active minutes.

Usually when I do a workout that is initiated via the Fitbit device, the active minutes match the workout session time. I see what the article explains, but even though I did 20 minutes in my cardio zone (of the toal 42 minute session) the phone app only says that I have done 13 active minutes.

I would have at least expected it to say 20 minutes.

Cheers @ Marrmaduke

That may well be the case as I have altered my routine slightly and the continuous minutes of high activity have changed.

Auto tracking walks/runs gives the "correct" minutes as this is a continuous activity.

Thanks again for your help.
