FitBit Versa Does Not Show Distance with Auto Recognized Walk.

If I look at the Walk shown as Exercise, I do not see Distance. If I click Edit, it shows Distance as a required field. This is nuts. If I tap The distance Icon on my Dashboard, I see the distance that accrued on this very Walk. Why should I have to go back now an enter it under edit?

Once again, I get the impression that the FitBit or Google IT person, doesn't even use the app. If he did, he would surely notice this obvious oversight and fix it, before I had to write this.

Now Google is going to force me to add a Google Email account, and switch to Google, when they can't even get this right. NOT IMPRESSED GOOGLE.

Top & Bottom only allows me to choose one option. Middle allows me to choose multiple items. I find this very confusing.

My Show Laps was set to ON, so I've turned that Off.

I do know that if I start the Walk exercise from the Exercise location, I will trigger the GPS and get a track of where I've walked. However, when I let it Auto Recognize, it doesn't trigger the GPS and I get distance based on my Stride. It would be helpful if FitBit had an instruction to show how this is supposed to be setup.

Under your walk settings on both your Fitbit device & the App, do you have laps set to auto & lap type set to miles?

Best Answer

Under Exercise:

My Versa 2 is set to auto, the Lap Type is set to Miles and the Lap Every shows 0.5 miles.

My App is set to Miles and my Auto Recognized Activity is set to 10+ Minutes

I’m not walking on a track, which is what the Laps Setting Suggests. I’m walking on local trails, so there are no laps.

The distance is tracked in Miles, in the app, on the my Dashboard, when I scroll across to the Distance section, in the approximate time of my walk. It does not show, in the Distance  section when I pull up Exercise Days, under the Activity section, when I view any of my Walk activities.

It only displays Duration, Zone Min, Steps, and Heart rate.

Why doesn’t it display Distance for the specific Walk exercise?

I think Google is trying to change this to their own image and making a mess of it. Their IT guys don’t even use it as far as I can tell.

@davidkbrown On your Fitbit when you go to exercise> walk> gear icon> customize stats> Do you see a stat set for distance? You can tap Top, middle & bottom stats to change the default settings. Maybe your issue is with one of these?
Fitbit moderator… can you add some insight here?

@davidkbrown On the top & bottom stats you should be able to tap through the same 11 options that appear on the list for the middle stat (& set to option you want). I, too, do not understand why setting the middle stat doesn’t work the same way as setting top & bottom stats. Maybe Moderator can explain?
It appears to me the auto recognized exercise feature isn’t working as designed & has bugs. Moderator… can you pls investigate & let us know? Thx!

I have sent screenshots of 2 screens. You can see that the Duration shows, but I see nothing in Distance, from the same auto recognized Walk.

@davidkbrown They each have their own user names, with Fitbit at the end. I don't think anyone is going to respond to @moderator.

Have you tried actual support? You should be able to get with chat support in under 5 minutes.
