Fitbit Update 8/23/18:

Hey, everyone! Just wanted to thank you all for your participation in this thread.

Since the majority of Versa users have successfully updated to OS 2.1.1 (v32.32.10.15) I have decided to close this topic from further comments.

If you still have not updated your Versa to OS 2.1.1, check out this help article for how to update your device. Please complete this update so that you're prepared for the next release.

If you are experiencing an issue with your Versa unrelated to the firmware-up process, I invite you to start a new topic on the Community or find a related topic.

Thanks for all your feedback and contributions on this thread. We're looking forward to bringing you all the next Fitbit OS update! Smiley Happy

Fitbit Update 05/11/2018: We have released Fitbit OS 2.1 to 100% of Versa users (Firmware Version: 32.32.10.15).

Hi, everyone! Smiley Happy

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.1! (Firmware Version: 32.32.10.15)

We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

WHAT’S NEW

Introducing quick replies. Send customized responses to text messages and messages from select messaging apps with your Fitbit watch. Note that this feature is currently only available on watches paired to an Android phone. For more information, see How do I respond to messages with my Fitbit watch?

WHAT’S FIXED

This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here.

I recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article

If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

I’m facing the same issue... does anybody know how long does it take?

@Praetore, about 20 minutes if using the factory reset watch force update method correctly using wifi.

  • Versa: Am unable to answer calls, even though the 'Answer Call' button does appear on my Versa. Just removes the notification and the phone keeps ringing. Rejecting calls works (Android 7).

Isn't answering calls only available on ios?

I updated this morning, get the notification for a text, can reply, but I cannot read the text that I received. What could I be doing wrong? I tried searching this issue but couldn't find an answer. I have the special edition versa and an s8 on verizon and use the verizon message+ app.

What are your settings within Verizon messaging app? Also, what are your permissions?

I downloaded the app just to show you it's permissions and contents on my Note 8 🤗:

If you use Textra, you won't have any issues.

I have an android device. Samsung s8. And I am able to answer and reject calls now.

Oh really. That's interesting. Maybe that's due to you being on the .20 update?

Thanks for clarifying that for me

I think this has been discussed in the forums already as well, answering
calls is an Android 8.0+ feature. It works on mine, I'm running 8.1.

Of course after saying that, for the life of me I can't find where I read it, so I may have made it up. Either way I can confirm that my phone running 8.1 and Versa firmware .20 does allow me to answer calls, your mileage may vary.

Just got my update yesterday on my LG V20. Smooth download and install once I started in app it ran in the background without issue.

Already did my first text reply, and call rejection. Custom messages are plentiful and can be set per service which is awesome.

Thank you for the great update.

I do remember seeing something about answering calls only working on Android 8+. But if that is the case, I don't understand why they still show the button on earlier version...

A non-functional button is pretty poor ui design.

_____

After a day of testing it's still running fine otherwise, but I am seeing a few apps that do not offer quick replies on the watch even though they do offer quick replies on my phone's notification tray (BBM for one). I hope we'll see more apps supported down the road.

Update, within seconds of posting this...I now see option to reply. Comment remains the same on the firmware update though. Should not take that long and that many restarts of devices. I restarted again in order to see quick replies after it finally finished installing.

So the firmware update took 8 hours at two tries and at least 3 retries. Phone and watch were right next  to each other. While my watch says that I'm on the current version and the quick replies are in the app on my phone, they are not an option on my watch. I use the default and app for an S8 plus.

I am also wondering why not all are getting version .20.  I got the update via app and I got version .15.  The only real complaint I had previously was that custom exercise stats don’t save.  That’s NOT fixed in version .15.

But with .15, I’m now not getting notifications (which I was getting before-sort of-as well as I ever do on the Ionic anyway), and my sleep tracking is just whack (it was fine before).

So I saw about forcing an update to version .20 (which corrects the one issue I actually had and seemed to fix the others) and after following those steps, I installed .15.  Again.

If the custom exercise stats aren’t going to save, can I somehow revert back to the whatever version of Fitbit OS I had before - which was ok?

At least I know to NOT follow the prompt to update my Ionic since the only issue I have with that is again-custom exercise stats aren’t saving.

Mine did the same thing.  I restarted my fitbit, and it fixed the issue.

For those using Verizon Messages/Message+ or Samsung default text app I have a thought in terms of a possible workaround. These are not SMS apps but rather RCS (Google them to learn the difference). I'm only speculating here, but my guess is the new quick replies is not supported with RCS. That said, try this as a workaround: Within the Fitbit app notifications settings, change the default Text Messages app to something else (doesn't matter which so long as it's not Message+ or Samsung). Then go into App Notifications and turn on notifications for Message+/Samsung by checking the box next to it. This works similarly when you have multiple calendar or email apps (personal and work for example).

One other thing to try is setting/changing the default replies for each of these apps under the Quick Replies setting.

I can't test this because I don't use any RCS apps (I use Google Messages), but try it and report back!

@MikeyP181 I have a Samsung s7 edge running on 7.0 version. Does this mean I will not be able to reject/answer calls from my versa? Is there a way to get an 8.0 version or is my phone too old? Thanks.

This is a bit of joke. Absolute rubbish from top to bottom.

I got the update notification this morning, but it simply won't even start.. Flashes to a white screen if I'm luck otherwise pressing the upgrade link does nothing.

Galaxy S6 on Vodafone.

Honestly I'm at the point of sending this back for a refund and getting a Garmin

Hey, are you following instructions from online to update ur galaxy s7 to an 8.0 software? I'm curious because I have the s7 and I do not receive calls on my versa. Ive been told it's because I'm running on 7.0. Even though I used to receive calls before the update.

I was wondering if you did get the 8.0 and if it fixed the issues. If so, please lmk how you downloaded. I read a couple of different ways of downloading using the pc then connecting the phone.
