Fitbit Update 05/11/2018: We have released Fitbit OS 2.1 to 100% of Versa users (Firmware Version: 32.32.10.15).

Hi, everyone! Smiley Happy

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.1! (Firmware Version: 32.32.10.15)

We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

WHAT’S NEW

Introducing quick replies. Send customized responses to text messages and messages from select messaging apps with your Fitbit watch. Note that this feature is currently only available on watches paired to an Android phone. For more information, see How do I respond to messages with my Fitbit watch?

WHAT’S FIXED

This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here.

I recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article

If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

Same troubles here since new update, I called & talked to a staff person & we rebooted & walked me through everything while on the phone & still can only get missed calls.

I ended up having to factory reset mine and set it up again but have to say it has been working fine ever since.

I am so very disappointed with Fitbit.  When you spend so much for a watch you should not have so many issues with trying to update your watch.  I have had the Iconic and currently have the Versa.  I feel like going back to the Apple Watch because of so many issues.  Connecting to WiFi was my biggest issue.  It took me hours to finally update.  I did use all the troubleshooting methods.  The ONLY way that worked was connecting through my phone hotspot.  This is just ridiculous how you have to do so many things to get this watch to work at its full capacity!  Very very disappointed!

UPDATE:

Good morning,  the only way mine worked the other day is by turning on the hotspot on my phone and then connecting to WiFi through the hotspot.  Hope this helps.😊

I have had my versa working with notifications for over a week now. with no problems Well only when the software updates and then I have to reboot the watch, that is it. If you have wifi setup then disconnect it in the fitbit app. or re-setup the watch and skip setup wifi. As soon as I re add the wifi my notifications stop working. I also leave the app running in the background.

My Daughter has the blaze which up till yesterday received messages now and then, as soon as she left the app running in the background she now gets notifications.

I have reported this to fitbit too.

You shouldn't have bothered updating.  The update completely kills the battery life of the versa - cuts it by 3/4 from 4 days to 1.  Smart of Fitbit to roll this out slowly I suppose.

I'm lucky if I even get a full day now... This is ridiculous ☹️

I updated my watch and now it won't tell time. It says "loading" always.

My battery life went all to heck when my Versa updated last week. I went from 4 days to 1.5 days. I read a bunch of things here related to the upgrade, and to generic battery life.

One person mentioned, I believe, that they selected a fitbit-stock watch face and rebooted, and things improved.

I selected a fitbit-stock watch face and rebooted, and things have improved. I charged up 2 days ago, and as of right now I'm at 50% remaining. I haven't done much application use, so I haven't stress tested it, but then again, I was away from a charger for 24 hours and didn't want to tempt fate.

I picked a watch face with no second hand, 'Nelson'. I figured let's cut out any potential accidental background processing...

Interestingly, I just went looking for the analog face I had been using, and can't find it in the 'catalog'.

Of course, your mileage may vary, but I thought I'd mention it. 32.32.10.15, and my battery life is now acceptable.

Cheers!

Hopefully this will work on my Moto G5S Plus as well. Thanks!

Hi there, sorry to do a cross post but I found out the following thread was related: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Versa/Versa-Firmware-Release-32-32-10-15/td-p/2690045

I was about to buy this device until I found your messages and that's frightening.

Some users reported that changing the background theme to another official one solved their battery issues after the update. (note it seems the theme should be changed even it the current one was supposed to be an official one).

I don't own this device myself but I would be curious if the users affected with the issue could try to change the theme/background or whatever it's called on their device and report if it fixed the issue.

Thanks.

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. Smiley Happy

We really appreciate our members's input and feedback about the latest FitbitOS update on your Versa and I would like to thank you for yours. This information is greatly important since our team is constantly working to improve their products and services. I will address your concerns one by one.

Quick replies, if you're having trouble with Quick replies or you need more information about how to set them up, please refer to @RobertoME's excellent post about this subject. Please remember that you will only able to set up Quick replies in Android phones running Android 7.0 (Nougat) or later. If the app of your choice is compatible, it will appear under the list of app when you select Quick replies.

Battery issues, if you find your Versa to drain the battery faster than usual after the latest firmware update, please select a Fitbit clock-face, then restart your Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen, monitor the battery consumption for the next days and if everything goes back to normal, change the clock-face for the one of your choice.

Syncing issues, if your Versa is not syncing correctly after the update, I would like to suggest you to check the following:

  • Make sure the latest version of the Fitbit app is installed on your phone.
  • The software on your mobile device is up to date. To check, tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around as they might interfere with the syncing process
  • Check that your Fitbit device's battery isn't critically low.

If your device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Open the Fitbit app.
  4. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart your phone again.
  5. Open the Fitbit app.
  6. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart it one more time.
  7. If your Fitbit device won't sync after the restart, log in to your Fitbit account on a different phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
  8. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your mobile device and try to sync.

And finally, for those who are having updating the firmware on your Fitbit Versa, before you begin the firmware update, make sure your watch is plugged into the charger and in range of your Wi-Fi network during the update. For best results, use your home or work Wi-Fi network. If you've never connected your watch to WiFi, see How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi?. If your Versa is having trouble updating with WiFi, please try the following:

  1. Make sure your watch is connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to use.
  2. Move your watch closer to your router.
  3. Make sure your router is connected to the internet.
  4. Restart your watch by holding the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo.
  5. Try again to update your watch.

If the update fails, restart your mobile device and try to update again. If you your Versa can't update over WiFi follow the on-screen instructions in the Fitbit app to update your watch over Bluetooth instead. Note that firmware updates over Bluetooth may take significantly longer to complete. If the Versa is having trouble updating through Bluetooth try the following:

  1. Try turning Bluetooth on and off on your phone.
  2. Restart your watch by holding the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo.
  3. Try again to update your watch.
  4. Restart your mobile device and try to update again.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

We should not have to jump through all these hoops to have a functioning device.

What about all the issues with not receiving text messages at all?
Best Answer

Please kindly add these in your next update of Versa firmware and the app :

1. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on/off controls to settings to let users control what they need to do

- I, for one, would like to save power by having Bluetooth off (like what I did with competitor's devices) unless I need to sync with my app. It prolongs the battery life for a day or two at least from my experience with other devices (wearing 24x7 except taking a bath).

2. Let user choose whether to update the firmware when pairing

- I would like to know whether the device work properly before updating at the first setup, than to waste time without results setting up
