Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?
This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
- Restart the watch.
- "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
- "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
- Try the update again.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Hi everyone.Thank you for your interest in the latest firmware for your Versa. As @AlessFitbit said these updates are released in phases to test how it behaves and ensure a smooth release. Hopefully this will be available soon for everyone but at this time we can only ask for your patience.
Several of you mentioned different issues so I wanted to point some help article for you all. If you are on a bus or car then your device may count steps, you can read more about it here. The notifications are only via a vibration as the Versa doesn't have any speaker to make noise, play music or similar applications, please check the notifications article for more information. Finally regarding how devices sync you can check this help article.
Let me know how it goes!

Stop saying soon cuz I’m sick of hearing that word, soon means nothing to me cuz I have been checking every day for the update and still didn’t get it and you don’t need to test it to see how it behaves just release it to the rest of us, I can’t take the waiting game anymore

@AlvaroFitbit I was poking around in the SDK developer forum after someone on this forum mentioned that the (unpaid) developers had found problems with the firmware release. The mod on that forum told everyone that updates are released to 10% of users to "soak" then released to everyone after a week. This update was announced on 4 October. Today is 29 October. That's almost 4 weeks. Last time I checked, 4 is more than one.
Please, please, please just admit that there's a problem holding up the release. Then explain the details of the problem. Then tell us what you're doing to fix it. Then tell us when we can expect a working firmware update.
Trust me, transparency is super cool and makes people think you're awesome!

It sure would be nice to have a list of bugs actually fixed by this update.
"Bug fixes and improvements" doesn't mean anything to anyone. Nobody can tell if their specific problem will be fixed when you say this.
The ENTIRE POINT of having a "bugfix" header, is so users can know WHICH BUGS have been fixed.
If all you tell people in your bugfix header is "Bugs have been fixed, you might as well not even have it.

No one is saying to describe every individual bug. Put there just those related to the users (more or less). It's great that you optimised SQL queries and now they're 10ms quicker, but (as you said correctly) people will unlikely to understand. BUT you can say that you fix the problem with the music controls (wink wink fitbit...) or with synchronisation. That is something people will understand. Anything is better than nothing. Or empty phrase - This release includes other bug fixes and improvements - like in this case. As someone mentioned here - transparency is important.

This is November 1st already and still didn’t get the update, and the 1st post in this thread still says
”We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Versa users.”
what gives I feel like the rest of us including me will never get the update and will always be stuck on firmware version 32.10.15

What i fee is they have no idea how to fix their device. They tried an update and it failed and they stopped rolling out more. Just accept the fact that u lost 229 euros buying a watch with a display and move on. The money is gone. Never buy a Fitbit again!

The update does work but they’re just playing mind games with the rest of us users and taking forever to release the update to the rest of us by using some stupid excuse by saying we’ll get it soon yea when soon cuz soon don’t mean a darn thing to me cuz they can’t learn to just tell us what day we will get the update and it should be released all at once not in phases

If it works there is no point delaying and not rolling out further. For sure there is an issue with the update

There is no issue with the update at all, they’re just delaying the update on purpose and just leaving the rest of us hanging by not updating this thread

Also, the update is a large file, and there are a large number of watches that need it. As with Microsoft, server capacity is an issue, which is dealt with by phased release.

Firbit Versa isn’t made by Microsoft to begin with so fit bit firmware version isn’t by Microsoft and there is no issue with the update at all cuz they would not send out the update to 10% of users if the update had bugs in it which wouldn’t make sense.

Generally an update is rolled out to 10% of users first to check if the updates are successful and not causing any other bugs. That's how testing is done coz they can't test all real life scenarios by themselves. That's why I feel they found that their update was buggy and have stopped the rollout.

There update isn’t buggy and the users don’t test the update the developers is one that does the testing not the 10% of the users so what I said above is right if the update had bugs in it since 10/04/18 the day they announced the new version then no ine would had gotten the update on 10/09/18 and thry wouldn’t release the update to everyone till all the bugs are fixed but if those 10% users already got the update then there is no issue with the update and they need to release the update to the rest us right now cuz I can’t take the waiting anymore I just can’t

Some bugs are caught before release, some after. That is the nature of development, whether of hardware, or of software. Hardware also goes through revisions, though it is software that always gets the publicity.
It is a well-known concern among users of products with a software element, that the first people to receive an update will be the ones to hit any bugs not caught before release. It is why, to use the Microsoft example again, businesses are reluctant to install updates as soon as they come out. Consumers however tend to be more gung-ho.
I am happy if you are one of the first to receive the update, brave soul that you appear to be. I however am content to wait.
PS I was a recipient of a new medical treatment a few years ago, in the second wave of a trial. I asked one of the specialist nurses how the people in the first wave were doing. “Oh, you mean the guinea pigs?” she said. Bugs are not just a software issue. They are everywhere in life.
