Fitbit OS 2.2 - Versa Firmware Release (32.12.19)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?

This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

I'm confused.  I just did a complete reset of my Versa and received version x.19 instead of x.24.  I thought version x.19 was being nixed and all new firmware updates were getting x.24 instead.

Same here. Did a factory reset and got 19. Would be interested it what was fixed in the latest version.

I purchased my Versa about 2 weeks ago.  I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 phone and am using the Message+ app.  I receive the message notification on my Versa but am unable to read the content or reply from my watch.  It appears that this was expected to be fixed in the updated version of the firmware but I confirmed that my watch is at this version and am still having the same issue. Please help!

@Lili630 I doubt an update of the firmware will resolve this issue as it is not the firmware's fault. Please check this thread for potential solution.

Is this Firmware update available for everybody?

Because my Versa is still running on version 32.10.15 and i didn't get a notification in the Fitbit App that an update is available.

I just bought a Versa and it updated to 32.12.19 as I was setting it up (UK). Took 20-30 mins. No problems.

Everything working fine. I'm getting gmail, whatsapp, phone calls and texts notifications. Crazy you can answer the phone with the watch.

I have a Pixel 2 XL.

I had a persistent GPS connected notification but if you long press the notification (on Pie) you can uncheck the Sync notification and it clears it.

Loving it so far.

@Tasechka91  where are you stuck? From hard-reset to fully working watch again normally is done in a flash, like 1hr - not more.

@lenny4d I tried all the instruction and it shows updating until the very last moment and then fails.

And lets be honest, update should not take an hour!

@Tasechka91 You need to make sure you have a very good WiFi connection, so if your network is poor, try other one (work, friend's place etc). Also, put all devices involved near the router.

@Marrrmaduke Thank you for the response. I have tried everything for the past couple of days and I just gave up. It works just fine without an update, so maybe later when Fitbit will fix their update issues.

@meresydotes At the moment, I don't have that information available. If it is rolled out any further, I will announce it here and make it known. I recommend staying on 32.12.19 until the next OS release, no further action is needed right now.

@Rak9378 @Laszlo52 @pmversa @Llmgtab We're really sorry for the confusing version numbers. If you are already on 32.12.19, then there is no need to update or attempt updating to 32.23.24. This release is part of an effort to test a new firmware update process. For more information about this release, see the Fitbit OS 2.2 section in our help article. I recommend staying on 32.12.19 until the next OS release, no further action is needed right now.

@Getfit53mew Hello! Thanks for stopping by the Versa Community forum. Sorry you had some trouble updating. If you haven't already, try a restart on the watch then try the update again. If you need step by step guidance, please do give our Customer Support a call.

@arithisvolin To read our release notes for this firmware, please check out: What's changed in the latest Fitbit device update? Our PurePulse (heart-rate tracking technology) is specially designed to give you a more complete picture of your health and fitness. As with all heart-rate tracking technology, whether a chest strap or a wrist-based sensor, accuracy is affected by personal physiology, location of wear, and type of movement. If you're having trouble you can also try moving your device to your other wrist. I hope this is helpful!

@TJ1302 Sorry you're no longer receiving notifications. You might have to re-pair the Bluetooth connection with this phone. Please check out this article for our troubleshooting tips.

@SunsetRunner Please review the lead post in this thread, it contains all the information you need in regard to this update. If you'd like to update to version 32.12.19, you'll need to perform a factory reset on the watch. If you still have questions, let me know!

Oh my previous charge hr had no problem reading my heart rate thru my tattoos. I tweeted at Fitbit support and was told it's a common complaint with the Versa. I hope this issue is addressed sooner rather than later since I know it is possible. I love my versa but I will say I'm disappointed in this lack of feature being much more pricey than the charge hr. @AlessFitbit
