Fitbit OS 2.2 - Versa Firmware Release (32.12.19)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?

This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Yes! Same issue. Eventually the device was still loading with the blue logo screen on, but the app on my phone didn’t say it was installing anymore. I turned the device itself off (left “back” button and right bottom button at same time) and the device itself is tracking steps and heart rate, but my phone no longer shows that it’s connected via Bluetooth. I have turned Bluetooth on and off, and even did a hard reset on my phone. Still nothing. If anyone has any advice on how to reconnect the device as a result of this catastrophe, please help! I’ve onky had this device for a week.

I'm also having install related issues.

Mine downloaded the update last night, and was in the middle of the installing phase when it failed.  It was stuck on the blue fitbit logo screen all night.  This morning I held the buttons and it "woke up", but now it refuses to connect or sync to my phone!  (The watch itself is working normally.)

My issue seems to be resolved!

ladies: I went into the “settings” icon on the device and scrolled to “about.” In that screen, I hit “shut down.” That basically did a hard reset. I then touched the side left button and turned the device back on. Once it loaded (it takes a minute and the logo will be on screen), my phone connected to it via Bluetooth again. I haven’t done the update a second time, but the device is now synced properly to my phone. I hope this helps!

Ok guys so here is a temporary fix for those of you who had an update issue.

1. Get out of the installing phase by restarting the watch (hold both left and right-bottom buttons).

2. Turn the app off and on again

3. Restart the watch by holding the left button

4. The watch should start tracking now but it can not connect to the app

5. Go to the app and remove the watch

6. Add the watch again (you will get the 4digits pin etc)

7. You might experiance an issue trying to find ghe watch via bluetooth, just turn the Bluetooth on/off on your phone and it should work fine.

8. Next step was to setup the wifi on the watch. Mine started but stuck at one point. I turned the app on/off and all went well.

9. The watch now works and syncs with app

Again, this is a temp fix to get the watch to sync again and till Fitbit rollout a better update deployment sequence.

I am a new versa user (only 10 days). Not so good experiance. I might go back to my Charge 2.

This helped, thank you!  The shut down of the watch let it reconnect.

I also tried the update again... This time it was successful!!! I didn't do anything different lol. Good luck, guys! 🙂

I am considering returning my watch. I’ve only had it for a week as well 😒😑

Update took me the whole day, but everything works fine, no problems.

What bugs were fixed? There are quite a few bugs we have been complaining about for a while. Saying “fixed bugs” is not very helpful.

I've been trying to update it all day too, still no joy.  Won't connect to WiFi sometimes, then tried bluetooth.  It gets to about a third of the way through then says firmware update failed!!  Tried all the suggestions but still nothing and mine is a new replacement Versa as my other died.  Hope to get it sorted today.  Would appreciate any suggestions, failing that will contact support.  They were very helpful last time.

Heart rate is no longer working after the update.

I've tried restarting the Versa and shutting it down, and even changing the clock face.

Update: I shut it down for a few minutes again and now is working.

@IKuser  You should try restarting the Versa. It also looks like you are on an older version of the iOS app, I would recommend updating the app

@rachtrudeau@ErrolN@pmfrew1, @ebonye, @AndyLASI do recommend checking out the article @AlessFitbit posted on troubleshooting. Try restarting the device and setting up on a strong wifi connection, close to your router.

@janpolet@Angelicveracity looks like you got it updated! Let me know if you are still having issues.

@Jazzy89 it doesn't look like you have the update for Versa yet, so you wouldn't be able to update. But should try restarting your device if it's stuck.

Mine keeps downloading and the progress bar keeps going up and then down again 😕

I already restarted the Versa but my apps don’t work anymore.. Nothing happens when I click them. So fed up with this whole Versa thing 😞

I'm still trying to get mine done.  I got all the way through downloading and installing up to the last bit then it just didn't do anything.  It was hanging like it was stuck in time.  Have started the process all over again after trying all the suggestions.  Not been able to wear it all day and really missing it.  I have the updated iOS app on my phone.

Well , I am user from fibit Versa from april and my expieriences is too bad , the main reason is problems with sync and batery life , in this moment the batery life only work from 7AM (100%) to 6PM (10%) , the main reason about it was the firmware update , each update include new features and thounsand and thousand a bugs , I would like that fibit improve this problems but I feel that to they the users are not important , I miss my Xiaomi Band or Samsung Smart Band , but not all is bad , the tracking when i am sleeping on nigh is amazing (For example I alway going to my bed between 11PM and 11.50 PM , 100% of batery but when i wake up the next day the batery only have around 48 % sarcasm ).

Today while i am writting this post my fibit band update to the last firmware , I hope that with this realse return the normal behaviour about my devices.

Thanks for all

Tried again after restarting everything internet related in the house,
moved close to router, used iPad as update device with Versa on
charger...success in 30 minutes. Don’t know why I didn’t do that first time
around 😉

Hi guys!

If you have any problems with updating, I ask everyone to describe the exact specifications. Without it, it does not matter much. For example:

1. Hardware name: Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F)
2. Operating System: Android 7.0
3. Fitbit app: October 5, 2018
4. How did the error occur? You just wrote that down.

It is true for every computational error report: to provide basic, accurate specifications. Based on this, it is possible to know how often the problem is present in the circumstances and how to fix it.

PS: I do not understand why moderators do not ask for this basic thing.

Well.. I just did a factory reset and then set up the Versa again from scratch. This finally did the trick for me..🙄

@Linfon85

Yes, that is the trick that works very often. However, do not forget to synchronize it beforehand.

The update went well.

I did have to restart both the Versa and my phone because the syncing process got stuck.

Also the watchface I was using (Large Print Watchface) had to be reinstalled. The app lost its access rights.

The only issue left now seems to be that the watchface keeps reverting to the default colors, while in the app settings the custom colors are still selected.

Other than that, everything seems to be working.
