Fitbit Update 1/10/19:

Hi all!

Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!

Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our Community discussions on-topic.

If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there.

Thanks again and happy stepping! Smiley Happy

Fitbit Update 12/26:

Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Versa watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.

In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.

We look forward to getting you all back on track!

Fitbit Update 12/22:

We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.

We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Hi, everyone!

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 32.33.1.30)

We've started to roll out this update and it's currently out to 20% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here. We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Versa, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

*If anyone isn't seeing the TODAY app after updating, please try the following:

1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app (version 2.84)

2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Versa into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Both of my Versa's are receiving the update this morning, looks like they resumed the update.

Update 12/22/2018 9am CST:

Both of my Versa's received the new Fitbit OS 3.0 successfully.  They both seem to be working properly.  The only hitch was the today screen was only showing the 3 stats at first but after forcing a sync with the phone now it's showing all.  Both are charged up all the way so I'll see how the battery life is, some are saying they are getting around 4 hours but I will see what happens with the two I have.

Received the update 20 minutes ago. Installation worked flawless and took 15 minutes. Great job this time

Hi again!

I finally got the 3.0 update today! The Today screen works great, I have all my chosen stats set up.

Now that I've got the update, I have a question about something I've seen on the Fitbit Blog and Instagram page for this update: goal-based exercise modes. How do I get the goal-based exercise modes set up?

I've checked out the "What's changed in the latest Fitbit OS update?" page, as well the page it links to, "What should I know about exercise goals in the Fitbit app?". Neither page makes it clear to me how to get this goal-based exercise mode and I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

Can anyone help me out on this?

Thanks!

Has anyone found a link to this OS Firmware versions release notes?

Sorry if this was already discussed, but I can't find it anyware. I'm hoping to see a documented list of all the changes in this release.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Finally competed the update after three attempts...

however I understand I should be able to select up to seven sets of stats on the Today page on my Versa - I only have three tick boxes shown under Settings: Core Stats, Hourly Steps and Heart Rate. Am I looking in the wrong place or should I be seeing more?

Best Answer

@Brantome I've read in a few places on this thread that if the Today app doesn't work properly after update, you should check that you have the lasted version of the Fitbit app on your phone, and then plug your device into the charger for a minute before removing it and syncing

That's what I did and it worked. After syncing you should be able to see more stats and a settings button at the very bottom of your today screen. You can choose which stats you want to view in the settings button.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for that, I’ll give it a go. Those sort of instructions are so non intuitive though it’s like a secret society that you need to be a member of to understand its strange ways. I’ll roll up a trouser leg while I’m at it just in case that might help too 😂😜😀

I’m receiving a 4.0. update, is that possible?

Edit:

phone says 4.0... but it's the last 33 version 😉

The new update for the Versa is quite mediocre in my opinion. It greatly slows the transition speed between screens, while it's nice to finally see features that shoulsves been there from the start, it is a hard pressed "improvement". EspeiEspec since the data is not saved locally on the watch and will only display after sync to the phone. Something that's more inconvenient than expected.

I'm unsure about battery life, but on a OnePlus 5 it doesn't have too many sync issues. Once out of range of my phone, the Fitbit requires a restart to get syncing again.

I got the update yesterday and updated without any problems. I noticed quickly that my battery life was terrible. Overnight I lost 65% which has never happened before. I tried rebooting, unpair/pair with Bluetooth, remove/add in Fitbit app. Nothing helped. Did a factory reset and once again upgraded to the latest firmware, and I still have excessive battery drain. What can I do to fix this?

@ZenD02 Factory resetting let you download the upgrade again ? Because I'm having the same problem with battery here... Didn't try anything yet as I don't know where to start...

FitBit 3.0 updated engaged! Successfully. 🙂

It took all of 20 minutes to update (downloading and the install).

May be having the same issue with the battery,  On the other hand, the upgrade went really well (smooth and quick).  I am at 69% right now.  Will update in a few hours.  If the battery setting s are off due to the upgrade, then FitBit should step to the plate and do something about it.  I heard so many good things about the newer bits.  Do own an archaic Flex1.  Simple and rugged.  Please do not make me regret upgrading 🙂  Cherios

@UCGFM The 1st factory reset took me back a few firmware versions, so yes, I was able to reinstall the latest. I tried another factory reset not too long ago and no luck this time. I don't know why unless my first upgrade had issues. Nothing appeared to go wrong.. I may be stuck with the latest version now, which isn't really usable for me if I have to charge my Versa 2-3x a day. So far I've lost 22% of my battery in less than 90 minutes on the latest.

I too have the battery life issue. Doesn't last but 4 hours. Did a factory reset and no change. No sense wearing a dead device. Frustrated to say the least. I believe they know this is an issue. Doesn't happen to all who upgrade but definitely happens enough that it's an issue.

I would have to say mine is Ok. Was updated while on the charger. Taken off about 24 hours ago at full charge. Since then, lifted weights twice, 11 mile bike ride, 185 active minutes, and battery is at 84% right now. I'd say that's not bad.
