Fitbit Update 1/10/19:
Hi all!
Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!
Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our Community discussions on-topic.
If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there.
Thanks again and happy stepping!
Fitbit Update 12/26:
Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Versa watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.
In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.
We look forward to getting you all back on track!
Fitbit Update 12/22:
We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.
We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!
Hi, everyone!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 32.33.1.30)
We've started to roll out this update and it's currently out to 20% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here. We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Versa, please follow these steps:
*If anyone isn't seeing the TODAY app after updating, please try the following:
1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app (version 2.84)
2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Versa into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Re the app update: in Windows, there is a setting to allow or not automatic updates of apps. You might find there's a similar setting to turn off automatic updates on android and ios phones.
Re the firmware update, as far as I know you need to click on "update" to do the update. That allows you to make sure it's on the charger etc and that you're ready for it, have the time etc. As long as you avoid clicking the update link it won't update.
You probably won't know for sure if it "works" on your setup until you try it 😞

I installed the newest app and OS today and my Versa has stopped working altogether. The screen lights up black but that’s it. I’ve reset it numerous times, turned the WiFi on and off numerous times, forgot the device, uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Now that I have reinstalled the app and am re-registering my Versa, the app wants me to enter the number that shows up on my Versa screen, however my Versa screen only lights up and shows black.
I have been a Fitbit user for years and upgraded to the Versa in March, but I am getting really frustrated with the constant update problems and having to buy a new device every 2 or fewer years because my device stops working.
Is there a factory reset or other option to correct my issue? Or am I looking at needing yet another device?

@mingke that only works if the screen is working and responding to touch input which is not the case with several people here that are trying to do factory resets.

Hi @BlueCC : Allthough I have no idea what exactly you mean by "lights up black" (the thing IS black), presumably your problem is the same as is described in this thread https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Versa/How-do-I-perform-a-factory-reset-in-my-Versa/td-p/2686924
(page 4 says how to do a factory reset when the screen is not responsive/black etc)

My watch is a versa. All going well until the update last Thursday.
Watch face does not light up with any sort of usual movement, won’t appear when left button pressed. I can no longer tell the time.
BATTERY LIFE IS ONLY ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF SINCE UPDATE.
I can still access upward and downward swipes but takes a few swipes to do so.
WiFi setup says it can’t find my device!!!!! but still syncs with my phone.
I DON’T use gps or music.
Also wondered if Bluetooth is raising havoc as well as the battery drains so fast.
Have tried reset, remove device, reinstall app.
NO LUCK and very confused.
Any hope of a solution?

@lenny4d Meaning the backlight works but the screen doesn't display anything.

Support has determined that it needs replacing.
A couple of hours later, it's disposing green and write vertical lines. See photo

Where can I find the version number of Fitbit app on my versa?

Same issue as you. Although, since it's still syncing to the app I'm hesitant to remove the device from it.
Customer support has told me that I need to contact the store I purchased it at because they won't honor the warranty since it's not an authorized seller.
If they would issue an updated firmware, or a rollback option, this would probably fix it.

@Ryan79
That's the same screen I'm getting, but Fitbit won't honor the warranty since I purchased it from an unauthorized store.

@SunsetRunner that sucks. Hopefully the store you got it from will do the warranty.

My fitbit was updated to FitbitOS 3 and were fine with Android. Once I changed the sync to iOS I couldn't see the water intake, food, etc. on my Today app on Versa. Is the new feature on Today app only support Android?
12-23-2018 23:21
12-23-2018 23:21
@feebryan No. I'm guessing you need to update Today app in your Fitbit mobile app on your iOS. Versa syncs always with the version on the phone you're syncing it with. Make sure you're running the latest version of the Fitbit mobile app on your iPhone. Then check for Today app update in the Fitbit mobile app. If it's available, then update and sync. If not simply plug your Versa for charging and it will update itself. It may take several hours.

Thanks for the update! Put mine on the charger and connected to wifi, with phone and versa. Update took 10min. Using Layers clock with green them, all day sync and reminders to move off. Everything else on. Once installed, I restarted and all the stats appeared. But it was a little laggy. Restarted again and it is working great! The only snag is the watch still lags while syncing with the phone but seeing as versa is not really in use during the daily sync I do first thing in the morning, its not critical and doesnt impact in any way. Loving the new ways to interact with the versa.
PS - using a stock fitbit clock seems to be the answer to battery drain, if anything the battery life is now longer for me, pre-update it was draining approx 24% per 24hr and now its on about 18% per 24hr.
Thanks Fitbit

Since the new update that rolled out the other day, upon each sync the today data on the watch doesn’t update, my accurate sleep data for each night is shown upon the app but it hasn’t updated my sleep data on the watch since Friday? Have tried additional syncing and resetting the watch and unpairing and re-pairing with fitbit app and nothing seems to be changing? Can anyone help with this? Seems to be a rather pointless feature if it isn’t actually updating on the watch.

This update straight up doesn't work.
I don't have 7 options for Fitbit "Today" - I have 3. I have rebooted the watch. I have synced it with the phone. I have connected the watch to wifi while charging. Nothing works.
Also weather is now broken - it just keeps saying I need to sync with the app.
This is straight garbage. An end user should not have to do as much troubleshooting as I've had to do with this product. Unreal.

So I did the update and now my versa battery life is very short. I fully charged it this morning and an hour later have already dropped below 90%. I have already disabled all day sync too. Suggestions?
