Fitbit Update 1/10/19:

Hi all!

Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!

Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our Community discussions on-topic.

If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there.

Thanks again and happy stepping! Smiley Happy

Fitbit Update 12/26:

Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Versa watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.

In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.

We look forward to getting you all back on track!

Fitbit Update 12/22:

We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.

We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Hi, everyone!

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 32.33.1.30)

We've started to roll out this update and it's currently out to 20% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here. We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Versa, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

*If anyone isn't seeing the TODAY app after updating, please try the following:

1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app (version 2.84)

2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Versa into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

@lenny4d Thanks again for trying to help. It has become very clear to the support team that there is something very wrong with my device post system update, something that cannot be fixed through troubleshooting or simply turning off some functions. It seems they are considering a replacement device, but we'll see.

I'm just annoyed that my device spends about 2 hours charging twice every day currently. It's a total let down.

Same here and I am not interessted in silly pseudo workarounds. My Versa is still working after the update, but counts (sensor) are confusing and battery drain (at least the calculated %) is increased dramatically. I still believe in FitBit will regain trust by delivering an clear statement what is the root cause and consequently delivering a working firmware update for all hardware revisions in the field. Cheers.

I'm not sure if mine updated but in the 'Today' dashboard I'm unable to see my last few workouts or cardio score even though exercise is selected in the settings.

I have tried restarting it twice.

My sleep logs are also blank screens and the Today dashboard lags and regularly jumps back up to the top.

Apologies if this has already been noted by somebody else, I haven't read all 27 pages of replies 🙂

is there a weekly refresh of "today" where the data are cleared out?

reason i'm asking is because i have had all the "today" tiles working. I only enabled core stats, heart rate and exercise. These info below was available before:

> the heart rate, time spent in each zone & cardio score

> all core stats are there

> days of exercise, list of last few exercise done

couple of hours ago, some tiles went missing.

> the heart rate is there. Time spent in each zone & cardio score are gone.

> all core stats are there

> days of exercise, list of last few exercise are all gone

sync, resync didnt help.

anybody else came across something like this?

I'm hoping we get a new firmware update in the next few days that will unbrick / fix all the issues 32.33.1.30 caused. Still awaiting word back on an exchange from Fingerhut (probably the holidays) since Fitbit won't exchange it due to the clause in the warranty about authorized dealers. Upset that I'm seeing so many others with the same issue as mine that are getting exchanges from Fitbit proper.

@Allanaburns @SunsetRunner Thanks for stopping by the Fitbit Community! Sorry to hear you're both having trouble with the Today app on your devices. I suggest you both connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, then plug your Versas into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app for you if it isn't yet up to date.

Read more in this detailed post if you still have questions. Hopefully this does the trick!

@oma7144 @SunsetRunner I'm sorry to hear you're both experiencing some issues after this update. There were many improvements/additions made with this recent firmware and if your problems continue, it might have something to do with the hardware instead. Just to be clear and set the right expectation, there won't be another firmware update anytime soon. If your device is malfunctioning and you need a replacement, I suggest contacting your retailer or reaching out to Customer Support who can help with the next steps.

Thank you for clarification "there will be no firmware update anytime soon"! This left me (and maybe others) still behind with the question "why an firmware update can cause a hardware malfunctioning"?

Cheers.

@oma7144"why an firmware update can cause a hardware malfunctioning" -- Do you mean the battery drain? That can be software just as well, in fact I bet it is. Or do you mean the black screens etc that some people report, there something serious seems to have gone wrong. Maybe the installation of the new OS conflicts with some rogue 3rd party apps/clockfaces that were already installed with certain people and creating some weird memory problem, who knows? It is definitively not a general problem, and so there is something peculiar with some peoples (including yours) setup that makes this happen, either on the versa, or else.

You may have mentioned it before, but is your mobile device among a 100% confirmed supported mobile device or not? If not, the problem maybe yours and not fitbit's... 😞 So I hope it a confirmed compatible device. That eliminates at least the user as part of the problem instead of fitbit.

The list you mentioned is out of date. Many new devices are not in the list. It has nothing to do with compatibility but more on the Fitbit lack of resources I think. It just stop updating new devices and just focus on selling devices

Hello everyone. Thank you for sharing your experience with the firmware update so far.

@Allanaburns happy to hear that your Versa is working fine now.

@oma7144 it could be an incorrect way of handling a resource/app/feature but I am just guessing here. Still as @AlessFitbit said if you are having issues feel free to contact our Support team for further assistance.

@mingke If your phone doesn't show as compatible but that doesn’t mean it won’t work it just means that it hasn’t been tested by our team.

@lenny4d as always thank you for your help here.

I'll be around!

My issue has been resolved.  I deleted all of the alarms and recreated them.  Thankfully, my Versa no longer goes off all day long!  🙂

Still rolling with the new 3.0 with no issues.  No battery drain even using a 3rd party watch face, and no sync issues.

I asked this question before with no answers or replies: why wasn’t the issue of heart rate tracking through tattoos addressed with the newest update? It’s been a problem for quite some time now and seems like nobody cares to fix it.

@derekmski101 Hi.  Glad to hear.

Do you mind sharing the following:

-Are you using assisted gps?

-Bluetooth headphones?

-How many times do you work out before you have to recharge the Versa?

-How long do your workouts last?

How long does you battery last overall?

My battery lasts me for 2 solid days+ if I jog for 30 minutes twice using assisted gps and bluetooth.

I need to know if this is normal.  Doing a bit of extrapolation, if I just use the Versa as a watch without the "workout" features I just mentioned, my batteey should last me a bit less than 4 days bit very close to the mark.  Thanks for your help✌

Just received this Versa and it will not stop losing sync then Bluetooth. I have the latest app and firmware done all the suggestions and it will sync once and then not again without installing it again.  I am a network administrator so working with this is not new to me.  My phone is a Galaxy S4 Active with version 5 OS.  Have many computers and wireless devices that all function flawlessly along with Bluetooth devices.  Have spent over a day installing and uninstalling things to get this watch to function as designed but that is impossible.  The watch drops the Bluetooth and that ends the sync.  The WiFi is another joke and a hassle to get the watch to find it and accept the password.  No problems installing other devices over the WI-Fi. 32.33.1.30 is no help along with the recent app. This should have never been released with so many bugs.

Grab a laptop with Bluetooth. Install Fitbit for Windows app. You will find that the sync will beuch better and more consistent vs using phone.

If you have Android tablet, install Fitbit there too.

This is what I did and once you can sync with any of these devices all your other devices will sync too.

Using smartphone is the most problematic. Avoid it

Thanks Smiley Happy for the long awaited update. I can say with confidence that my Versa now operates as expected (resets daily  step counts; less sensitive to earthquakes; stable BT & WiFi communication). While my many months of frustration have come to an end (let's see before popping more bubbly), I hope that others still experiencing issues can see resolution as I have.  This update certainly saved my Versa from a scheduled decommissioning.Robot surprised

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  I understand what you are saying however one of the features is to receive notifications on the watch from the phone while at exercise in the gym.  Your method will not do that plus for the price it should not be so buggy with Bluetooth and WiFi setup.  I've setup a ton of WiFi and Bluetooth devices and this Versa is the worst.  Setting up WeMo's was a piece of cake compared to the Versa and I thought nothing could be worse until the Versa came along.
