Fitbit Update: 1/9/2020
Hey, Versa Smartwatches family!
I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the New Year. Before the holidays, we released this firmware out to 100%.
If you still don't see the update for Fitbit OS 4.1 (70.7.14) because it's brand new or perhaps was gifted to you for Christmas, please continue syncing the watch and make sure you have all-day sync turned on. You will soon after see the banner prompting you to update to this firmware.
Thanks for your patience and hope you continue enjoying this update!
Fitbit Update: 12/5
Hi, Versa Smartwatches family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30 minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.
On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.
Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.
Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations and if on, the always-on display on Versa 2 to preserve your battery life.
Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.
For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa/Versa 2 can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, Versa 2 or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips. If you have any issues after completing the update, when in doubt, try a restart on the watch.
How to restart your watch:
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

After completing the update my fitbit also turned off. I was able to get it to turn on after holding all 3 buttons for about 40 seconds until the fitbit logo showed up and then about a minute later my screen showed the time. So hopefully this solved whatever was wrong. Maybe it'll help you. I thought it was the charger but after buying a new charger that didn't solve anything

You SHOULD tell it Versa lite user ASAP by mail or something, or, remove the update from app to prevent the users turn their versa lite to bricks. Just post to this forum does not help anything. Because, users come to this forum after a problem occurs.

After updating to the new firmware 4 or 5 days ago my versa 2 is showing me 'Today' stats (swipe up) from 2 days ago. After syncing the watch the 1st time with the Android app, today's stats were correct on the phone app but still incorrect on the watch (still showed 2 days old). A 2nd sync and the watch was showing the correct information.
Seriously strange, you would think the watch is the primary data so should always be correct.

I had the same thing happen to me tonight. It's getting very frustrating and I'm just going to let the battery run down and try charging it again. Good Luck!

I've been waiting so long for a clock face switcher directly on the watch. How long until everyone has the update, because I am anxious to get it for myself.

The Clock face switcher seems to be buggy. I tried a bunch of clock faces and now I have 5 in the app, and 6 on the watch.

Keep pressing and holding all 3 buttons down until you see the logo. I found the suggestion on another thread that said to do it for 3 minutes and that the fitbit was then on the logon screen for about 1 min... mine just did it in ~40sec

For people who did a factory reset, cause nothing was happening on their devices, what are they supposed to do? I don't see any troubleshooting regarding that. I'm stuck with a dead product now.

Hi. I'm using versa (first version). I'm facing issue with the notification after the firmware update. Currently using huawei phone. Unable to receive notifications even I did reset the phone and my watch. There is no issue when I did a test notification. But thereafter still no notification coming in. Please help. Have been facing this issue for 5 days. Thank you.

After fighting with my Fitbit Versa Lite yesterday I found a solution, I did do a factory reset on the watch, I plugged the charger into my desktop and let it find the Versa Lite. I started by finding the Versa Lite while plugged into the computer. After connecting and starting the update it took about 10 mins to update. It is now working correctly. Might want to add this to your steps to repair the issue FitBit is having during this update.

I think if you hold the left button in the right lower button for 10 seconds it will resurrect it.

They do that, then they release the new os in waves to monitor for this stuff.

My OG Versa has been on this new firmware since last Friday morning and honestly it's been great. I had that one hiccup where the watch clock face wouldn't finish installing but once I fixed that it's been flawless since. Battery life is is better than I'd expect for a device of it's age, notifications come in fast and reliably, and now I'm reconsidering getting a Fossil Gen 5.

I just want to pop back in and say that after I read the horror stories yesterday, I “took the plunge”, and my beautiful silver OG Versa... Updated. 😉
Thats it. Apologies for the underline and bold, it won’t turn off.
So, my watch it perfect and I love having multiple click faves available at the tap of my fingers! A perk I didn’t know I wanted! 😁
Just update.
Also: I fully charged my phone and OG Versa, left them on chargers while updating, it took less than 15 minutes.
Good luck, friends!
