Fitbit Update: 1/9/2020
Hey, Versa Smartwatches family!
I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the New Year. Before the holidays, we released this firmware out to 100%.
If you still don't see the update for Fitbit OS 4.1 (70.7.14) because it's brand new or perhaps was gifted to you for Christmas, please continue syncing the watch and make sure you have all-day sync turned on. You will soon after see the banner prompting you to update to this firmware.
Thanks for your patience and hope you continue enjoying this update!
Fitbit Update: 12/5
Hi, Versa Smartwatches family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30 minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.
On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.
Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.
Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations and if on, the always-on display on Versa 2 to preserve your battery life.
Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.
For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa/Versa 2 can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, Versa 2 or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips. If you have any issues after completing the update, when in doubt, try a restart on the watch.
How to restart your watch:
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Hi There,
What did you do to remediate this issue?
I am facing same problem with my Versa, it's a routine job for me to put my versa in dock for charging every evening and when i check it next day morning i find my versa battery totally drained out and it is happening after the latest firmware(32.70.714) upgrade
Kindly help.

@Amit_007 unfortunately, there is nothing you can do. The new firmware is crashing the versa devices. Customer support told me to buy a new device, since mine is out of warranty. If you are still in warranty, they will replace it, but I've read through the forums that the replacements have been crashing with the new firmware update as well.

Thanks @Amit_007 - yes I've seen the posts about the new update and it appears I'm better off just le3aving things as they are. My current watch is already a replacement, so I've done what I can at this point. Once this drives me to the point of no return, I'll simply buy a different device I think. All the best 🙂

Hi @Amit_007 - I haven't resolved my issues - just muddling along with my current Versa till it fails or dies or frustrates me so much I buy a new device.

Versa lost time yesterday. Spent nearly an hour with service. Tried reset, on/off, disconnect Bluetooth, and more. He then said it was something they're working on. Won't sync at all now, clock faces won't load, and now I don't think the Bluetooth is working. Great product 😞

Hadn't heard about the problem with the time. Without time it's not even a watch. Is that with the new firmware or the old?

Mine has lost time twice in the past couple of days and I’m now having to charge it twice a day. Before was charging it every 5-7 days.

Thanks for the info.
Here is the latest update on my watch after the last post-
Yesterday night i raised a case with Fitbit and they are suspecting it to be a battery issue after telling them that is happening after the firmware upgrade, funny. 🙂
Last night i did not shutdown my versa to monitor and when i checked it this morning the battery was 95% which was quite surprising and thought that these guys did something at the back end to resolve my concern.
But, couple of minutes back when i checked my watch settings, I found below options/functions were greyed out with the different settings which wasn't done by me-
1) Brightness- DIM
2) Do not disturb
3) Screen Wake- Manual
And now when i am trying to make them changes in above settings, it's not happening..!!
God know what they are doing to resolve it..!!

@Amit_007 after the firmware update, I do not turn off my Versa anymore for the fear that it won't turn back on. I used to turn it off every night to save the battery, but now I just turn on the do not disturb feature so it does not receive notifications throughout the night and wake me up.

@Halileeif you think you might still be in warranty, get in touch with Fitbit support to see if they can do anything for you. My original lasted 4-5 days before syncing and battery issues brought it down to a day. My replacement device was lasting 20-24 hours, and they asked me to perform a battery test, which confirmed it was defective and they are now sending a replacement for it.

Since updating to this latest firmware release, my Versa Lite restarts several times a day, going blank and then showing the Fitbit logo. The causes range from receiving a notification, to receiving a phone call, to doing absolutely nothing and it will just restart. Are there reports of this? Any fix in sight?

And now I can't even get my bluetooth to connect thanks to the firmware update. I own a brick.

Wow, seeing people complaining about issue because of the recent update, so far, my VERSA works fine and I really liked the new feature having several different clock faces on the device itself.

@AjaySingh you are one of the very few lucky ones that are not experiencing trouble with the new update.

Give it time - the problem may develop for him. Mine started out slowly with the occasional sync issue then escalated to rebooting every time I wanted it to sync. Finally it just stopped being able to connect at all, even after uninstalling and reinstalling the software, rebooting the phone, rebooting the Fitbit, etc. When my Bluetooth does a search it can't find the Versa that is literally 2 inches away!

Millions of Versas have been sold...2 months after launch they said they had sold 1 million Versa units (source https://www.fool.com/investing/2018/06/05/fitbit-has-now-sold-over-1-million-versa-smartwatc.aspx ). So it seems the vast majority of Versas are handling the firmware update just fine. I know that knowledge doesn't help someone if they are one of the unlucky few to now have a malfunctioning device, though.
