Update: This has now released to 100%

We’re excited to announce that a firmware update for Versa, Versa 2, and Versa Lite will be available soon!  Some of you may already have this update available - if you installed it, let us know what you think!

If you don’t see the update yet, that’s expected. Check the Fitbit app in a few days, and you’ll see a message when you can install the update. We expect everyone to receive the update in the coming weeks. We appreciate your patience while we get this update to all of our customers.

Did you know that we gradually release our updates? We do this to make sure everything is working just right for you. Sometimes we find an issue and it might take a little longer than expected for everyone to get the update. While you might see suggestions on how to “force” an update, we ask that you don’t try any of these workarounds. Most of the time the update won’t be available and you can lose data or encounter other difficulties. The best way to get the update is to be patient and wait for the update banner to appear in the Fitbit app.

Can someone from Fitbit please confirm that another update is coming to fix these bugs?

Best Answer

I did the update and my battery depleted immediately - I'm already finding I have to charge every 2 days now. And now, its not tracking anything ... I've done 0 steps, got 0 heartbeat and according to my versa, I'm dead!

Best Answer

I am not from fitbit, but resolved issues

* fully charge

* sync/back- up, if you can

* re-set (hold button in until it reboots),

reboot bluetooth (switch off/on from phone settings),

un-pair and re-pair (delete connection - on your phone settings “forget this Versa Lite”

* connect directly to wi-fi source (computer/usb charger)

* from phone, attempt redownload (it takes an hour)

* keep paired phone bluetooth-close

Good luck 🍀

Hey all!

As I follow this thread, it is not clear what model everyone has - Versa, Versa 2 or Versa Lite? Are the problems with the update worse or better for the different models?

I have a Versa 2 and have not done the update yet. If you are posting in this chain, can you add your Versa model to your post?

Thank you!

I have a Versa 2.  I'm not doing the update unless Fitbit says what is in the update and I find out whether it fixes the problem I have (earbuds not working with downloaded music. I have no confidence in Fitbit.

Update versa 2

tried various options without success. Today I did following which seems to have resolved the data for today.

Sync’d versa 2

reset using button

came back with u able to clear all data resync

tried to resync but after 30 mins was still only halfway

removed Bluetooth pairing

removed versa from my account

added back to account and then reset

was able to sync then had to update.

updated but still had old data so reset to factory via watch settings

Removed pairing and versa 2 from my account again and set it up again.

forced to install upgrade.

went for a walk and now have active minutes and active times.

so far so good. Prob don’t have to do all I performed maybe just sync then remove the device from your account then reset to factory via device settings.

I wish I never updated my versa 2 because just after the update my screen stopped responding or tapping on apps itself. I have reseted to manufacture settings and tried to restart but it just not working. So sad because this a second watch in 18 months the first one was replaced by warranty for similar problem now I'm out of warranty. Don't think I will purchase firtbit ever again because they don't last.

Hi

I own a Versa 2.  I have no heart rate since the update.  Now I have no sleep data either.  I have a premium membership which I purchased for the sleep options.. I guess it's time to cancel that.   This is my 3rd Fitbit.  The first one had such great customer service.  Since then each watch worse service.  This watch didn't even last as long as my last 2.

I want to love Fitbit for all the features and price point but it just never lasts.

so this update killed my Versa functionality it was working perfectly well until the update installed, no steps to remedy (hard resets etc) have worked and mysteriously the confirmation button on factory reset no longer responds.. anyone reading this with a versa 1 and the option to update would be wise not to do so. Only advice I received was to buy a new watch with a voucher code supplied. No surprises there. Either a prime example of a manufacturer making an older device obsolete or some very poor software testing.

My Fitbit quit holding a charge after the update and now it just won’t charge.  Very upset with this last update.  I hope a fix is issued soon.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the details provided in your posts and for your efforts in trying to troubleshoot the issues you started having with your watches after the update. I understand how you must be feeling. We‘re taking into consideration your comments and sentiments in regards to our products and services.

As a first approach, I'd like to reinforce the fact that we do not recommend performing a factory reset on your own unless it has suggested directly from our Support Team. Performing a factory reset might damage your watch permanently if it's done incorrectly.

If you're having heart rate issues, please try the steps below:

  • Switch the Heart Rate settings from On to Off and manually sync your watch. To switch the heart rate settings on your watch, from the main screen of your watch, swipe left until you see "Settings", next swipe up until you see "Heart Rate" and switch it to Off.
  • Once it's done, manually sync your watch. To do so, open the Fitbit app, tap on the Account icon, tap on your watch's image and tap on "Sync Now"
  • Next, switch it from Off to On and manually sync your watch once again.
  • Once it's done, restart your watch once again.
  • Next, confirm that your tracker is snug on your wrist (the lights shouldn't be visible) We also recommend when you're not exercising, wear the tracker just above the wrist bone.

For more detailed information, see: What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?. Keep in mind that active zone minutes are also calculated by your heart rate. For more information, see What are Active Zone Minutes or active minutes on my Fitbit device?

As for the screen not turning on, please restart your watch as suggested here How do I restart my Fitbit device? If the restart doesn't work try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.

For battery issues, please see Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?. If you're also experiencing a battery short life, please try restarting your watch. Keep an eye on your watch's battery life to see if it improves after the restart.

Hope that helps.

Since updatingmy versa lite 2  my heart rate is completely wrong almost double! And now no.longer calculates my sleep score either? How can I roll back this update? Very frustrating genuinely.thinking about a garmin now!

Best Answer

This hasn't helped. I still have the following problems:

  • Heart rate is always showing a much higher BPM then it should. 150+ while just sitting on the couch.
  • Calories for the day showing as three times as high as before the upgrade for days of similar activity.
  • No sleep score since upgrade.
  • No record of resting heart rate since upgrade.
  • Battery needing to be charged every two days now when I only had to charge every four days before the upgrade.

Can we just get a straight answer on whether or not the bugs will be fixed anytime soon? If not, I can go and buy myself a new fitness tracker.

Hi

i am really disappointed that all of a sudden in the last 2 days my watch has turned off and now is showing a battery symbol and exclamation mark? I have left it on 2 different chargers and it won’t charge or turn on. Sometimes the logo flashes on the screen and then it goes black again. So annoyed that it is now useless. Can’t eve just use it as a watch..?

This update is horrible, My heat rate monitoring has completely stopped working, I have tried resetting with no success, I have been a long time fitbit user and am now going to start shopping for another brand.
