Fitbit Versa text notifications not working after software update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My fitbit Versa stopped receiving text notifications after I did the software update (about a month ago).

I've tried emailing fitbit and did all of the suggested solutions they asked me to do. Everything from restarting the app/ phone/ fitbit to uninstalling fitbit and giving the app notification permissions etc. My fitbit versa is still only showing notifications when I manually check and does not have a pop up or vibrate when I get texts or other app notifications. The strange thing is that the versa notification only works for calls and if I do the testing call through the fitbit app.

I hope fitbit finds a solution soon.

Just updated the software again on my Versa and after 2 months of waiting and not being able to use the Versa for what I purchased it for, I was greatly let down. To my disappointment, it still has the same issues. Call notifications vibrate but still nothing at all for other notifications. I've only been continually using this in hopes of the issue getting fixed soon as promised. Hopefully there is a solution before the start of 2020.

I have an iPhone 8 and I’m having the same issue as @kimkilly . My versa will vibrate for phone calls but is not working for text messages. I also have had this issue for 2+ months. Please advise if a solution has been reached. It’s very disappointing that we pay good money for a product that doesn’t work as promised.

My Fitbit Versa text notifications work for 24 hrs. and stop. ONly work again if I do a factory reset after that it work for 24 more hour and just stop. I took all the steps in your FAQ it still only work for 24 hours and that what I got the watch for.

In my household 4 of us are in the same situation. The notifications are not working on our Versas. I emailed Fitbit and they said they’d reply and it has been 2 weeks and no reply.

This has been very frustrating as this is the number one reason why we purchased the Versa.

I am also having this issue

I've had this same exact issue, as has my wife and her mom (my mother-in-law).  It has been this way for months and we've pretty much just accepted defeat at this point.  I was going to buy my little brother a fitbit for xmas but not with these ongoing issues.  The text notification was vital for my mother-in-law in her line of work and it WAS my favorite function of the fitbit when I upgraded mine.  I'll be moving to Apple Watch next time I buy a smart watch after a four year run with fitbit.  Very disappointed considering I considered myself brand loyal to fitbit.

If anyone is following this thread, I just thought I'd share an update. Since I didn't get a response from the Fitbit mod on this thread regarding my follow up on this problem, I emailed them to ask if there was any progress and they kindly said the same thing they always say...

"We appreciate your time waiting for an update regarding the issue reported.

We'd like to share with you that our specialists are aware of this misbehavior, but may not be able to provide a fix in the immediate future. We'll continue to monitor the situation, but rest assured we're always working to improve our products."

So basically, 'yes we know and are fully aware that the Versa isn't working how it's supposed to be but it's not our priority now or in the immediate future (if ever).'

I honestly did love fitbit and how the app worked with my flex so I splurged and upgraded to a versa. This was working fine until the first software update (about 6 months into using the versa) and poof, no text notifications ever again. There are other minor issues also but I'm most frustrated about this one and even more frustrated at the lack of customer service from a company who is always 'working to improve' their products.

Guess I'll just have to splurge some more to get a Samsung watch....

shout it off and on one time each day and the text will work.
go to setting go down press about and goal the way down to shutdown wait
one min and cut back on by press bottom, I do this and my text work fine

I feel the same way. I still couldn’t afford buying the Apple Watch and the phone, but Fitbit is not working hard enough to resolve this issue. I may just bit the bullet and get the Apple products. And I was a big fan of Fitbit.

@JuanJoFitbit I doubt anyone from your company will read this or even respond at this point but going to try anyway. Just in case you guys were wondering, this issue is still NOT solved. The only thing that has changed is that I can't see text notifications at all now so that's great. I work in customer service myself so I know what it's like and I typically do not complain but I can honestly say that FITBIT HAS THE WORST customer service I've ever experienced. I've read many Facebook comments and replies to threads on the community pages and many other users feel the same. Many users have been very patient with this issue (waiting 3+ months like myself) but it's disappointing that your company cannot fix (and frankly does not seem to even care about) a problem with a basic feature you promote and a problem that YOUR update caused.

I never once asked for any compensation nor was I offered anything. I simply asked for updates on this fix and to have this issue actually fixed but it seems that asking for the bare minimum is asking for too much.

If any user is reading this I would highly recommend telling everyone you know to NOT purchase from Fitbit and please don't give them any more money. They had something good and RUINED it. I very much regret spending $$$ upgrading from a flex to a versa. I bought it solely because of the battery life and the text notifications. If I had known the text wouldn't work anymore after less than 6 months of using it, I would have just spent more to get a Samsung watch.

I also purchased the Versa for its features and am extremely disappointed in this issue not being resolved. Had I known 6 months after doling out $300 that the device wouldn’t perform as promised I would have spent my money elsewhere. I will NEVER again purchase anything from Fitbit and will be sure to tell everyone I know not to waste their money on Fitbit products.
