Fitbit Versa won't pair

I bought my Versa a couple days ago and have downloaded the Fitbit app to my iPhone. I followed the setup instructions for the Versa and get to the step where the watch is trying to pair with my phone. I input the 4 digit code form the watch into my phone and then the whole process stalls for hours. I have gone through all the troubleshooting steps I can find on the forums and nothing works.

 

I've restarted the watch, I've restarted my phone, I've turned Bluetooth on and off, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app ... not sure what else to try. I like the watch and would like to keep it if I can get it to sync up but I'll have to return it if it won't sync. Any suggestions are welcome.

It worked for about 3 seconds and then went dead again.  Tried to complete all steps again and still no syncing.  It can't even find the Fitbit.  VERY frustrated at this point!!  I have a Versa2 and and a Samsung 10+ Edge.  ??????!!!

It is really frustrating. I bought a Versa 2 but haven't even tried it yet
because my phone is older. My intent is to buy a new phone and then pair
it but my original post was just for the Original Versa.

I got on the internet with a virtual chat with Fitbit and they were patient and fixed the problem!!
