Hi just wondering peoples opinions. I've had the ionic for over 2 years, loved it but it broke. Wondering now how the versa 2 or versa are like. Need to purchase a new one. Not sure if I should stick with the ionic or change? Is there much difference between versa and versa 2

One major difference to be aware of: the Ionic is the only Fitbit model with built-in GPS if that is important to you, though the Versa family do allow you to connect to your phone's GPS if it is nearby.

Other than that, I think the Versa family is generally superior.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I purchased the Versa 2 as my first smart watch about 3 weeks ago. It has real issues tracking steps. it seems to be way too sensitive. I tracks steps when riding in vehicles or typing on a keyboard. I've been on many forums and most people are having the same issue with it. There are a few things to try to alleviate the problem but none seem to work in my case. Other than the step counter, I really like the watch, the looks, the functions. I don't have any experience with the Versa or the Ionic so I can't compare.

@Sabrina._   When Fitbit released the Versa 2, it stopped selling the Versa in the Fitbit store.  If you are looking at the Versa, the only choice is a third party seller.  If you choose a Versa, be sure to get it from an Authorized Retailer or there is no warranty.  I think it will be hard to find a Versa from an authorized retailer.

@JohnnyRow is correct about the built-in vs connected GPS, a big difference.  But there was a recent firmware upgrade that put some features on the Versa 2, but not the Ionic.  Certain clock faces come with an Always On Display.  The Versa 2 has an improved heart rate algorithm.

I ordered the versa 2. I think I actually meant the versa lite and not versa. I did love my ionic and if I don't end up loving versa2 I may purchase it again. I'm hoping I don't regret it though. After researching a bit since my ionic died last night it seems to be a common enough thing. Lifespan doesn't seem too long, probably was lucky you get over 2 years lol
