How does Smart Wake work?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

to Versa/Versa Lite (especially)/Versa Special Edition/Versa 2:

- Can I set up Smart Wake on band itself, without app?

- if I set up Smart Wake in the evening in the app, then I disconnect band with the phone - is it still going to work in the morning?

- is there any way to turn off bluetooth communication in these bands?

Cheers

Doesn't seem to be an option for me in the fitbit app (v3.11) on my phone (Oneplus 7 Pro) but I am able to set it up on my tracker (Versa 1 special edition, latest firmware) through the alarms app.

Hi @erdokannn. It's good to see a new face in the forums. @EarlXin, welcome back and thanks for your insight! I'm sorry for the delayed response.

@erdokannn, thanks for your questions about Smart Wake and let me help you with them. As our friend @EarlXin mentioned, this feature is available on the Ionic and Versa family smartwatches after updating 4.1 firmware version. Don't worry if you don't have that update yet for your watches, our team is still progressively rolling and be sure that you'll receive it soon.

This feature can be enabled on your watch directly, meaning that you don't need to do it on the Fitbit app itself. Just set an alarm on your watch and choose the option to turn on Smart Wake. When enabled, Smart Wake attempts to find the best time to wake you starting 30 minutes before the alarm time you set. And if by any chance it can’t find the best time to wake you, your alarm alerts you at the set time.

In regards to the last question, while there isn't a way to turn off the Bluetooth connection directly from your watch you can turn off the Bluetooth settings on your phone to stop their connection. Just note that you'll need to turn it back on when syncing.

Hi @KayHagger. Welcome to the forums!

Thanks for your question and yes, currently the Smart Wake function is available for the Ionic and Versa series smartwatches. If you wish to see this or any other feature implemented in your Fitbit in the future, we recommend to post your idea in the Feature Suggestion board so others can vote for it and add their comments. If you have any other question, don't hesitate to let me know.

See you around. 🙂

@erdokannnto answer the one question you asked that wasn't answered.  You can turn your Bluetooth off on your phone and the Smart Wake feature will work just fine.  I use the Smart Wake feature and I turn my Bluetooth and WiFI off on my phone every night.  The Smart Wake feature has nothing to do with Bluetooth or your phone.

Hi @SunsetRunner. It’s good to see you around in the forums! I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for stopping by to help our member with their questions. You're right, the SmartWake feature won't be affected by the Bluetooth connection between the Fitbit and phone. For more details about this feature, please visit this help article.

Hope I can see you around more often.

Hi! Curious about Smart Wake. About 1/7 times that I sleep, I do so in a form or position where my heartrate is disrupted and I don't get an indepth sleep score. Which is fine, but it has also been my experience that if my versa can't read my heart rate, my smart awake alarms don't go off at all! Not at their scheduled time, or any time before or after. I turned smart alarms off after it made me late for work! Is there anything I could be doing differently?

Hi @InkSlayerDucky. Welcome! It's great to have you on board. I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for the information provided about the Smart Wake function and your sleep activity. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you and let me help you with this matter. As you've noticed, the Smart Wake function will take your heart rate readings into consideration to know when it's the best time to wake you up. Since you mentioned that your heart rate is disrupted due your sleep position, I'm wondering if you've tried wearing your watch on your other wrist to see how it goes.

Aside of this, may I know if you turned Off the alarms along with the Smart wake function? Are your alarms working correctly? Do you feel a vibration when the alarm goes off? In case you have issues with the vibration motor, you can try restarting your watch to correct any misbehavior. Please note that alarms won't go off if your watch has less than 8% battery.

Hi - the information coming out from fitbit is very confusing.

From what i'm reading the smartwake feature should be available on the Versa but it certainly isn't on mind which i bought yesterday.  I had checked beforehand online before i bought it - press release suggested an update would be available and also this comemnt which i'm replying to.

I called fitbit today and they said it was not available and could not clairfy if/when it would be.

Very frustrating given that this is an expensive item and would not have bought it had i known - i have an issue with sleeping patterns and really had hoped this would help.

I’m having the same issue! Smart wake options don’t appear on my watch (under alarms) or on my app anywhere. Both my watch app and phone are current on updates 😞

Me too. I just received my Versa 2 today. I bought this specific model for the smart wake. I would have bought something else if I knew ahead of time.

Smart Wake has been a total nightmare. I hate it and after a lot of searching, finally figured out how to turn it off.

Do you like being woken up around 30 minutes before you set your alarm? Great! Smart Awake is for you

If you like to sleep until the time you set on your alarm clock and no earlier, this is probably not for you.

I hated it to a perhaps unreasonable degree.

Thanks for your explanation but I have a few questions that I can’t find answers to.

What do you mean that it picks the best time to wake you 30 minutes before the set time? How does it determine the best time? And last question, can you set it just to wake you at the exact time you want?

The Smart Wake has an issue on my Versa 2. Sometimes it wakes me too late e.g. this morning it went off at 7:10am for a 7:00am alarm.
