I own the Fitbit blaze and was wondering if I should bother upgrading to the Fitbit versa. I was specifically wondering what benefits the O2 sensor will have with the versa? Will it just be used in the background for sleep? Thank you.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Klawmark. Sorry for the delayed response.
Thank you for your interest in purchasing the Fitbit Versa. I'm happy to answer your questions about the SpO2 sensor. In the future, the SpO2 sensor could give users the opportunity to identify potential health issues like sleep apnea. Our team is still exploring how this could manifest in the user experience, but such technology would use this sensor. At the moment, there is no other information about this topic we can release.
Between some of the great features this watch can offer, we can mention swim tracking, quick replies, many apps, Fitbit Pay and more. If you would like to compare the different features of the Fitbit devices currently available at the Fitbit Store, you can visit this site.
If you have any other question, please don't hesitate to contact us at any time.

Don’t do it.
I had my blaze for 3 years with zero problems in that whole time.
got Versa 1 month ago and it has stopped working...took it back to the shop and they replaced it with a new one which was great but now this one doesn’t hold battery for longer than 3 hours. Reply annoying wish I never got rid of my blaze
