Hey, I've had my Fitbit since Monday and it logs my sleep but not the sleep stages? I have removed the app on my phone and re-installed it, re added my Fitbit (twice) and changed the sleep time started (read this online but no luck!). Any ideas would be great!

I let the versa determine when I sleep. Where is the button to start sleep?

Mynus how does the HR reading work during exercise. Mine reads when I’m asleep but as soon as I start working out it goes way too high and is up and down about 30-50 beats per minutes

Hi everyone! Thanks for sharing your experience your experience with the Sleep Stages feature. To make sure that your Versa is working correctly, please restart it

To receive Sleep Stages, confirm that you are using the latest version of the app:

  • iOS 2.50 and up
  • Android 2.71 and up
  • Windows 2.29 and up

You can check out the help article About the Fitbit app for the instruction on how to update.

Also, make sure that you are not using the "begin sleep now" function on their app to track their sleep. Using this will prevent them from seeing Sleep Stages. Using this function will also prevent receiving a message explaining why they didn't receive Sleep Stages.

Make sure that the All Day Sync feature is on. To enable this feature, you need to go to account, then tap the picture of your watch and scroll down and enable this option. If this doesn't help, tap the actual sleep log to see the error message you are receiving.

Let me know the outcome! 🙂

So i had the same issue...

Purchased on sunday, sunday night worked perfectly.

Monday night didnt record. So i added a sleep log. My log gave me awake adleep and restless. Changing the log didnt correct it, so i deleted the log and added again. This time it worked for me. I now have REM, deep, light and awake!

I hope its fixed soon... this was my reason for purchasing!

Hope this helps!!Smiley Happy

Welcome to the Forums @Ree-alice and @C27! Thanks for the update @Gadams99! I appreciate that you have shared that you tried the suggested troubleshoot.

Thanks for letting us know what worked for you @Ree-alice! Good to hear that you are back on track. As you experienced, some users have reported that deleting the simple sleep and manually logging it might show you your missing Sleep Stages.

@Gadams99 And @C27, to better assist you can you please let me know the error message you are receiving? To see it, tap the actual sleep log to see the error message you are receiving.

@C27 yes! I've had to manually add a couple of times, but its still working! If it doesnt, just delete and add again. Definitely my favourite part of the versa.

Must be a bug in online software - probably not  in the versa itself.

You were right!

I deleted Wednesday (did not add back) from my sleep log and then I got detailed sleep data for Thursday.  First time in 10 days.

Hopefully they can fix this soon.

Thanks @Ree-alice for finding and posting this work around.

@LucyAP I had the same problem last night - got 4 hours sleep (the page says you only need 3 hours + for sleep stages so I should have fallen into that bracket) but instead I only got the basic sleep pattern. Please note that this is on PC Webpage so is not an app issue but poss a whole page issue ...could this be looked into please.

apologies for wrong posting I have a charge 2 ( might be a suggestion to have a general issues page and not have 6 pages with same issue for each device heading)

Kind Regards

Great to hear that you are back on track @Ree-alice, and @C27! I truly appreciate your help in this thread. 🙂 Sharing tips and solutions is really helpful for users that might experience a similar situation.

@ashwolve Nice to see you here! Thanks for your feedback and for describing the issue you are experiencing. If you feel that your tracker is not behaving correctly, please restart it. Also, there are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

I hope this helps, keep me posted with the outcome! 🙂

@LucyAP Thanks for the response - I realised that this forum wasn't for charge 2 so I re submitted under the correct heading - just for information their was nothing wrong with my tracker as everything else logged as it should do - I also wear my Fitbit the same all the time and so a issue like this is noticeable as I know what I should expect from the device and what works best for me (positioning wise) - the battery had plenty of charge - I don't manually start sleep and have all sync as auto (all day) and live data running so rarely have a problem - it also logged 4 hours sleep so should have been stages not pattern - with the rest of the issues being experienced at the moment with various features on fitbit I think it was a glitch on the server and not a user problem as there are others that have the same problem - again may I suggest that these forums have a general page instead of the same issue with different trackers being logged on different pages to save confusion on the customer point of view (ie website issues general) instead of sleep versa, sleep charge2, sleep ionic etc the issue is sleep data shouldn't matter the device if you can see what I mean.

anyway I digress - the issue was sorted by the next night without me doing anything - I appreciate your only giving suggestions also but the issue is not always on the user side and that always seems to be the first response no matter how many complaints have been aired surely would be better for the tech team to check first before blaming the customer.

sorry for the rant I know your only trying to assist

hope you have a good shift

again many thanks

Kind Regards

This isn't true. For some reason both my Mondays didnt show the detailed graph with the REM etc. However, I did use the Sleep Now option on the app during the week as well as it doing it on it's own. Both ways tracked the details. I'm finding only my Mondays it's not giving the more detailed info. Not sure why.

I am having the same issue. The first two days it worked great, the last two,  the sleep stages are missing and it looks more like the sleep cycle on the old fitbits. Has anyone found a solution to this? Thanks!

Mine is doing the same thing. Manually started sleep using the app for 3 days and had REM and light sleep listed which I wanted and bought the Versa for. Last night did exactly what I did the 3 days before and this morning only have awake, asleep, restless, no detailed sleep log 😏. Will try again tonight but I hope this is being logged as a fix with FitBit as working in technology and building apps and from what I’ve read it sounds like a potential bug rather than user error?

This is still working poorly for me.  Of the last 14 nights, only 3 of them show detailed sleep stages.

Is it possible to access the HR data from the app/site?  Maybe I could better correlate the data, the sleep results, how I am wearing, and the quality of the sleep.  That may help me figure out what to adjust to improve this.

Wearing above my wrist is difficult when sleeping since wrist is smaller than my forearm - i suspect this is true with many people.  I have tried it but had no success.
