Text notifications disappearing from Versa.

I had a pebble and fitbit Alta. I thought the Versa would allow me to wear one only. Yes I wore both. I did the step by step from the book and app. I got text to be able to flash on my Versa but it would disappear after 2 seconds. When I try to pull text down it would say " You are up to date. No notifications". I am sick of battling with this for 4 hours, step by step. Can someone help?

Hello @Djh6475, I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have brought this to my attention. At this moment I would like to suggest you to restart your Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. If after restarting your Versa, the message notifications are disappearing without you removing them, let's restart Notification on your watch:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Restart your phone.
  3. Go to the Fitbit app > Account > Versa > Notifications and enable them again.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

I'm having this problem too. I followed all the steps and I'm still not having any luck

Mine is working now, had to reset everything. My Pebble is better at notifications for texts and phone calls but it is nice not having to wear the fitbit Alta AND my pebble.

@Asilmd, thanks for reporting this situation and for trying the troubleshooting steps I've provided above. Tell me, are you using an iPhone or an Android-based phone? Are you able to receive other Notifications on your Versa? Since when have you experienced this situation? This information will help me check this further and determine which steps should we take next.

Hello!

I have an iPhone. I have been having this problem since I update my Fitbit this past Saturday. It's not that I don't receive the notifications on my Fitbit, they just disappear from my Fitbit after I view the message from my phone. The only notifications that stay are entries from my calendar.

I appreciate you have brought this to my attention. Please note that with the new Fitbit OS update 2.1, Notifications are now removed from the Versa/Ionic once you open the conversation in your phone. This is expected behavior and not an issue.

I hope this resolves your inquiry, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Well that’s disappointing. Had I known that I may not have updated. I like having my notifications until I’m ready to delete them. Does Fitbit plan on keeping it this way??

When I have multiple notifications coming in at once, and I open one to reply back to or clear it, all the other notifications I have not gotten to yet also clears. How can I stop this? I would like all the notifications to stay on my Fitbit until I have read them all.

I am having the same problem.. I tend to get texts in succession in group texts and I can only access the last one. The others disappear before I can access and read them. This is only since the most recent update 32.32.10.15. I can't get .20 (I've tried :))

Apparently it’s not a problem. It was intentional. Hopefully they change that in the next update.

Hello,

I just purchased my Versa yesterday, after using a Blaze for 2 years. The Blaze saves all the notifications that come in until I CLEAR them. That is NOT the case with the Versa. This is one of the main reasons I have this watch, and I read that this is not the way the Versa is supposed to work. Why change the behavior to a worse behavior on a newer item????

I am going to return the Versa and try another company's watch since this is not working the way I thought it would.

I have owned many Fitbit, and have to say, this is not the best one.

Thanks

Since using Fitbit since 2015, first with Charge and the Charge 2 and then Blaze, and now with the Bersa, I have always been happy with the upgrades. I am getting REALLY frustrated with all the glitches with notifications etc I seem to be having. The last eat with the text notifications quickly disappearing is close to pusshing me over the edge and making me seriously going to iwatch

Yep, I tried two different Versas and ended up returning both. It's too bad because I love my Blaze, but the battery is just not holding for very long. I have researched smart and fitness watches, and probably will end up with a Samsung.

@Jsfdaman @Suelg24 Can you please explain how the notifications disappear? If Versa has received them, they will stay in the tracker's memory until you clear them (either on Versa or phone). When Versa receives a notification, it just shows a quick preview. If you haven't managed to tap on it, you can still access all your notifications either by swiping down on the main screen or by long pressing the top right button. If you clear the notification from the notification drawer on your phone, it will be cleared from Versa as well. Hope that helps.

Having the text messages disappear when you open your message app is what I have an issue with  On my Blaze, the messages stay until I choose to remove them, that is not the way the Versa works, by design. Fitbit had said they have no plans to change this

Best Answer

@Suelg24 You mean a message disappears when you open an app on your phone to read it? This is normal and has nothing to do with Fitbit. Once you read the message, the push notification gets cleared from the notification drawer on your phone. It's how your phone operating system works. If you would like to keep notifications on your Versa until you're ready to read the messages on your phone, just do not tap any buttons (Reply, Open, Mark as Read, Clear) on your Versa. Note, taping Open will open the messaging app on your phone and automatically clear the notification from both the notification drawer and your Versa.
