I have been trying to install my Versa for 2 hours. It won't install on WIFI or bluetooth. Any ideas?

Hello @firegal, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. If your Versa is still having trouble setting up, please try the following:

  1. Turn off Bluetooth on your phone; wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  2. Make sure you have a strong WiFi signal and that there are no other Bluetooth devices around that might interfere with the setup process.
  3. Restart your Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen, then try to set up again.
  4. If you can't set up after a restart, reboot your phone or tablet and try to set up again.
  5. If you can't set up after the reboot, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your phone or tablet and try to set up the Versa one more time.

Now, before you begin the firmware update, make sure your watch is plugged into the charger and in range of your Wi-Fi network during the update. For best results, use your home or work Wi-Fi network. If you've never connected your watch to WiFi, see How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi?. If your Versa is having trouble updating with WiFi, please try the following:

  1. Make sure your watch is connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to use.
  2. Move your watch closer to your router.
  3. Make sure your router is connected to the internet.
  4. Restart your watch by holding the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo.
  5. Try again to update your watch.

If the update fails, restart your mobile device and try to update again. If you your Versa can't update over WiFi follow the on-screen instructions in the Fitbit app to update your watch over Bluetooth instead. Note that firmware updates over Bluetooth may take significantly longer to complete. If the Versa is having trouble updating through Bluetooth try the following:

  1. Try turning Bluetooth on and off on your phone.
  2. Restart your watch by holding the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo.
  3. Try again to update your watch.
  4. Restart your mobile device and try to update again.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

I have the same problem. I followed all the steps but my phone just doesn't 'see' the verse fitbit. I bought it yesterday, I was able to set it up but after that it didn't sync anymore. Today I removed it to try and re-match it but that doesn't work, even though I did all the troubleshooting steps multiple times.

I called the help line and they walked me thru it. It worked after that.

I have been trying to sync my fitbit versa with my iphone6 plus all day. I tried everything suggested in this forum and was finally able to get it to sync when I restarted the watch by holding the left and bottom right buttons until the fitbit logo appeared. Thank you for your collective wisdom.

I was a bit luckier and got it to work in about an hour. Every new fitbit device I have had has the same problem -- useless when trying to set up over bluetooth. A complete reinstall of the app on my phone worked, but why is that necessary? My Charge 3 had many problems trying to connect over bluetooth even once it was set-up, and I'm fearing the same with the Versa. The fitbits are a nice idea, but the devices in practice seem endlessly buggy, and I am close to abandoning using them.

I have tried the online help and customer service. It all leads me to the same problem... the update download only loads to 5% then just stalls. I’ve tried every combination of on-off with devices and Bluetooth and same results.

Were any of you successful? I’m about ready to return it.

I managed to get it to work over Bluetooth overnight -- I still haven't
managed to get the Versa to connect to the wireless though, which is pretty
frustrating. It's a nice device when it's working but it is ridiculous that
it is so poor at connecting to anything, given that is a prerequisite for
it to be of any use!

Thanks for your reply. It is finally downloading and I am tip toeing around it as I check it’s progress ... currently 37%! I suspect my internet is not strong enough. I don’t know. Sorry to hear about the music problem. My music is on Spotify so I’m not sure it will be easy or possible.
Good luck with your Versa. The best help I got was from customer service
877-623-4997.
Thanks again!

Im working this today after brief failures during the last week.  I got the fitbit versa because my old fitbit seemed simpler than my apple watch to track what I want to track most.  So far no success.

I called customer service after what seemed like all else failed. I got a very calm, patient person who tried a number of things with me and finally I saw progress. Don’t hesitate to call them. It took doing it overnight. No problems since. Best wishes.

I had to set everything up on my Versa via bluetooth from my phone. I've
never been able to connect my Versa direct to WiFi. I've also never had the
bluetooth connection manage to connect to the GPS on my phone when running,
which is leading me to think I may switch back to my Charge 3. Overall I am
pretty disappointed with the Versa.

I've done this about 10-11 times. I've even deleted my account and created another one and it still will not work. About ready to throw it in the trash. Everything was working perfectly fine and it just all of a sudden stopped.

It took perseverance and letting it download for two nights but eventually I saw progress. It would get so far then stop. Keep trying is all I can say. Call customer service if you haven’t already.
