Versa 3 button isn't working

Hi,

 

I just received my very first fit bit, versa 3, and I have no idea how to make my haptic button work.

It never worked.. Am I supposed to turn on the haptic button function?

I went through some posts related to it, including a fix of turning it on and off.

I turned off my Versa 3, and I couldn't get it to turn back on by using the haptic button.

The only way to turn it back on was to attach it to the charger. 

Is my Versa 3 broken?

Try placing both forefinger and thumb each side of face and pressing gently, also make sure to cover the entire button with your finger. For more information, seeHow do I navigate my Fitbit device?

Hi, sorry, I've got a brand new Versa3 and so far there's no evidence that the haptic button is working in any way.  I've tried everything that I can find online but none of it works.  It's a pity because in other ways it seems like a very good watch.  Is there some setting I need to change?  Please don't tell me to restart it.  I've tried that twice and in both cases the only way I could wake it up was by attaching the charger!

 

I'll probably have to  return it.
