Versa 3 stopped receiving notifications

Loved this feature on my Versa 3 - receiving notifications from WhatsApp messenger and sms messages, but now it's stopped and will only receive notifications from the selected default app (whichever I select). I have checked that all are checked in "app notifications" I have paired and unpaired my device,  I have re-set my device, uninstallled and re-installed the fitbit app on my phone.  Is there a fix?

@DaftCowNurse Regarding the Sense 2, I advise you to continue working with our Support TeamSince you have reported this matter to our Support Team, they will be glad to continue assisting you with any concern or inquiry you might have regarding the outcome of your case.

As for the Versa 3, I suggest to perform a factory reset by following these steps:

  1. Don’t plug the Fitbit device into the charging cable.
  2. Press and hold the button for about 8 seconds until the screen turns off.
  3. After the screen turns off, you’ll feel a short vibration:
    1. When you feel the vibration, release the button and immediately press and hold the button again.
    2. Wait until the blue logo appears, then disappears:
      1. Immediately release the button and then immediately press and hold it .again, until you feel a vibration.
      2. After you feel the vibration, release the button.
        • This vibration indicates you started the factory reset.
        • After the Fitbit logo appears, the Fitbit device shows the image with the phone icon and setup indicator.

Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account, your applications, alarms, etc.

Once the above has been performed, please proceed to set up your notifications again on your Versa 3.

Hello there, @DaftCowNurse. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 3 before reaching out.

Please note that you can choose 1 app per category. The most common apps for these features are:

  • Calls—Dialer
  • Text messages—Messages
  • Calendar events—Calendar
  • Emails—Gmail

However, for "Text Messages" section you can only select your primary text messaging app (that can be WhatsApp, your phone's default Message app or any other). Nevertheless, in "App Notifications" section you can select more apps, for example if you decided that for your primary text messaging app you want it to be WhatsApp, in App Notifications you can enable Messages app.

For more information, see How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?

Hope this helps.

Hi @MarreFitbit

It is only text messages that I am having the issue with.  I have WhatsApp selected as my primary and Messenger and Messages selected in App Notifications, it used to work I think the issue started after the last update.

Incidentally I got the new sense 2 and this was having the same problem, I have factory re-set it, un-installed and re-installed the app paired and unpaired the device and I am no receiving WhatsApp and messages but messenger messages aren't coming through

@DaftCowNurse Thanks for the additional details you've provided.

Are you syncing the Sense 2 and Versa 3 with the same mobile device? Did you create a separate account for each Fitbit device? Note that you can't connect multiple devices that use an app gallery to one account. For Fitbit Charge series, Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Inspire series, Fitbit Luxe, Fitbit Sense series, Fitbit Versa series, and Google Pixel Watch, only connect one of these devices to your account at a time.

With the above being said, since you have more than one Fitbit device that receives notifications from your phone, notifications appear on one or more of your Fitbit devices. If you have an iPhone, notifications usually appear on all of your Fitbit devices that are in range of your phone. If you have an Android phone or Windows 10 phone, notifications usually appear on only one of your Fitbit devices that are in range.

For more information, see Can I use more than one Fitbit device with the same account?

Hope that helps.

Hi @MarreFitbit

I am not using both devices as the same time, I unpaired my Versa 3 to connect my new Sense 2 and when I realsied my notifications weren't coming through I contacted support who went through all the pairing and unpairing of my device, the re-setting my device, uninstallled and re-installed the fitbit app on my phone etc. etc. and  when it still didn't work I requested a refund, which incidentally was last Thursday (13th October) I was advised I would receive an email with pre-paid shipping label which I have not received!  Anyhow, so I unpaired my Sense 2 and paired my old Versa 3 to find that this was now only receiving notifications from the primary default app! Days later with still no sign of my shipping label I decided to give the Sense 2 another go, and that is where I am at right now.  I am getting WhatsApp (primary default) and messages (SMS) but still not messenger both are ticked in "app notifications"
