Fitbit Update: 4/27

Hi, Versa Lite Fam!

Today we're announcing a new firmware: Fitbit OS 4.1.2(version:70.7.27), which addresses and solves the firmware update issue that was identified and reported in this thread. Please update to this new firmware once you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app.

If you attempt this new update and have issues, PLEASE FOLLOW these step by step instructions in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

DO NOT ever attempt a factory reset as a troubleshooting method for Versa Lite. Thank you all for your patience while a fix was put in place.

Fitbit Update: 12/12

Hi Versa Lite users,

If you recently purchased a Versa Lite, or if you recently tried completing a firmware update and had issues our teams are aware of the problem.

We're currently investigating and working on a resolution. Please DO NOT perform a factory reset on the watch as a troubleshooting method.

Instead, try the following:

  • Plug the watch into a computer and attempt the update over Bluetooth. You may need to resume the update if it fails a few times. Note: You must have the watch plugged into a computer to improve the chances of successfully updating.
  • If you have more time available, contact our Customer Support and they can walk you through another method using a Windows 10 computer.

As a side note, if you encounter any issues while updating it, please perform the troubleshooting mentioned in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation while we work hard on a fix.

My versa it is still working fine.  Am still afraid to change the clockface though. That is what locked up the prior 2

Unfortunately, this doesn’t work for me.

My laptop wouldn’t download the Fitbit app.  It’s Bluetooth wouldn’t pair with the watch.

I have  tried my iPhone, iPad, my laptop, my dad’s laptop, and my mom’s Galaxy tablet. It’s been hooked up to her tablet for ten hours and doesn’t even have 25% completion yet. But, I’m leaving it hooked up to the Galaxy until it says the update failed.

I had a private Facebook conversation with Fitbit. The first person was trying to help but it was all stuff I had tried.  I guess I have someone else now. They said they knew there was a problem. Sorry. Can’t help.

I will be sending it back to QVC. My mom got it from them in late October for my birthday.

very disappointed in Fitbit—their product and poor customer service.

If they would just let us have access to the version. Before the update when it worked great it would be better for everyone

What does a reset do?

I agree with you. My Versa Lite worked fine before the update and even after the update, but I’m not sure what’s taking so long. 🙄

It is supposed to set it back to factory settings but that is not working so do not do it.

@Ann133 Thanks for the heads up. I’m just wondering what’s taking so long for them to resolve this issue. I sleep with my Versa Lite on and it doesn’t record my sleep pattern, steps or heart rate. 🙄 I hope they fix it fast.

I asked about when the new update would be out to fix this mess.  They said they could not share that with me.  So far mine is working fine, I think knock on wood.  I have not done much with it though.  Changing the clock face is what messed mine up

@Ann133 Did you reset yours or are you waiting to see if they fix this issue first?

They shoild send you a replacement watch.  When they do, dont use any of the new features the update adds after you set it up.

They had me factory reset my original versa lite which totally locked it up.  They sent me replacements as the second one did the same thing.  The third replacement is set up to the app on my phone and is working.  Dont do a reset.  It locks up your watch.

If it locks up you will need a new one.  If you cant get it updated you will need a new one. My first one tried updating for 8 hours and was not even half done.  Have you followed the prompts to set it up?

@Fitbit told me that it wouldn’t even work if I got another replacement.
@Ann133 How would they know that? 🤔🤷🏻‍:female_sign: I’m confused.

@GoyoM But the question is, how do you sync with the computer with a Versa Lite?

my fit bit started to become problematic after update. it would stop tracking exercise. switch off randomly etc. I posted it back and got a replacement but I couldn't download new firmware on this either. now they are sending me a third. I've asked for a credit to the value of device to upgrade. but they have refused. I've been over a month with a faulty device and getting no where. I am amusing the updates via bluetooth are the issue and that newer models would work. Any advice?
