I've been trying to update the Versa firmware to 3.0 for almost a month now mainly via the Wifi method (sometimes try the bluetooth too but it just takes too long and the result is no different). Each time the update starts properly but towards 3 quarters down on the Versa watch face the update progress gets stuck and the on phone the update progress bar just restarts. This cycle repeats until the Fitbit application on the phone says its failed to update. I have tried restarting the phone, rebooting the watch, remove the watch from the application, unpair the watch from the phone fitbit app, delete the watch from the Bluetooth and re added. I tried all these steps on the Pixel 2xl and also on Sony Xperia z3. Both are showing the stuck update scenario. Some help would appreciated.

Hi @Noeltobefit, good to see you around.
It sounds like you are trying to attempt the update over Bluetooth, some have found this to be an unreliable means. May I suggest that you make sure that WiFi is set up on your Versa. Once you've confirmed that place your Versa into it's charger and connect to a power source (this forces the Versa to connect to WiFi), then initiate the update again to see if you have more success this time.

Hi, I missed mentioning in the original post. I tried updating over Wifi. After the failed notification, the app suggested I try Bluetooth instead and i also gave it a try but found it all the more slower and result still the same.

Hi kuzibri,
Thanks for the instructions. You make it sound too easy 🙂 I will try following yours to the letter when I get a chance.
Things I can remember now, I did have a custom clock face on at the time of update, Battery was low but it was plugged into the cradle and charging. I also rebooted the Versa before updating.
Can i ask what phone you used for updating the Versa? I tried updating my Versa using Google Pixel2xl and Sony Xperia Z3.
This is certainly not the first time I've updated a device and find it extremely annoying that i have to spend so much time without a clue as to what could be causing this issue. If i had known Versa (Fitbit) was so delicate with their update process i wouldn't have even bothered buying one.

I finally got my watch to update to latest version, a bit confused about the process still.
I downloaded the Fitbit app to my windows 10 laptop. Signed into my Fitbit account. Connected the watch to my laptop using the Fitbit charging cradle. The application on the pc informed me of the of the new firmware upgrade for the watch. I made sure the clock face was set to a Fitbit standard face. Also ensured the battery was near full. Initiated the update from the laptop application. Around 10-15 mins later 3/4 of the update done and the watch face looked like it was frozen. The application on the laptop said something like connection lost. I was disappointed, unplugged the watch from the cradle and restarted it. The update began again automatically without me doing anything. I tried rebooting the versa a couple of times but the Versa would start the update automatically, the watch face never came up. I put it back into the cradle that was connected to the laptop. While i was going through the Fitbit application on the laptop i noticed the versa completed the update with a green Versa logo on the watch face. And that's it.
I have no idea what I did right. The version number has updated itself to latest firmware. It still annoys me as i am clueless on what i might have done right to update the versa.

Hi,maybe in your perspective my guide sounded too easy, but that's the way it went for my on my Sony Xperia XZ Premium .
