Versa Turns Off Randomly

ANSWERED

Recently, my Fitbit Versa has started turning off randomly, even when the battery is fully charged. The only way to get it turn back on is to put it in the charger. At first it showed that the battery was fully charged still, until the last few days it now shows a 0% battery message when it turns back on. I have done a reset several times and also a factory reset. It has come back from the factory reset once, but only lasted for about 5 minutes before it shut off again. Anyone else having this problem? It started about a week ago and is super frustrating because I’ve only had this watch for 6 months!

I now have no access to my fitbit, its stuck on the fitbit logo and then the battery drains, I charge it and it stays stuck on the fitbit logo again.

I received my Versa replacement yesterday.  My old Versa stopped working and was still under warranty.

The new Versa keeps shutting off.  The only way it will come back on is if I put it on the charger.  I have it on a fitbit clock face, restarted it twice, and it still will not stay on.

Should I do anything else?

I have tried and it is still having the same issues. Battery has started draining very quickly too.  Needs to be charged every other day instead of once a week.  Restarts and turning the device on and off have no effect.

Still turning on and off randomly as well.

I am also having the same issue I have only had my Versa Lite for three weeks and three days ago the beats per minute went out then came back on. Then my watch shut off then came back on them the screen froze I couldn't scroll through the screens. I was wearing my fitbit in the shower and while I was washing dishes but then I decided it wasn't worth messing it up. In Sunday it just went crazy the screen wouldn't move. I did a hard shut down since the screen froze. Then I charged it but it started shutting off on its own them turning on. I restart it still nothing. So today I did a factory reset and it still is shutting off and turning on at random times. I have only had this watch for three weeks I bought it at walmart. What should I do now?

Glad to hear everyone is having the same issue with their Fitbit turning off and on randomly.  My Fitbit Lite is only 5 months old. I read through the threads to see what would work. I tried to Re-install my original Fitbit clock face and that is also not working. It keeps saying to TRY AGAIN.  I can totally relate to the frustration some of you are expressing.  I’ve shutdown and restarted the device several times.  I am also reluctant to use the Factory reset.   Seeing this is a consistent issue for Fitbit, the company really needs to review this and come up with solutions to resolve the issue.  At this point, I would not recommend this for family members or friends looking for a fitness tracker.

I'm relieved to see this thread because I experience the same problem as of yesterday. I woke up to a black screen and it turned on when I connected it to the charger. After a few hours it started to shut down again, I was dismayed. By the way, I also used the fitbit clock face.

So here I am in this thread with the hopes to resolve this. I looked for a way to contact Fitbit via app but I'm having problems finding it.  I bought it last November 2019 so it really is frustrating to have this problem in such a short period.

I appreciate the help.

How I fixed mine was to remove the clock face and it stopped randomly turning off and on i am now very careful about what I download on the fitbit. I hope this helps.

I called and spoke to FitBit Customer Service and they reminded me I had bought the Square Trade warranty. Called Square Trade and afternoon a little information exchange - $25 replacement was on its way. This is the second time I’ve used Square Trade since I bought my Versa. It’s worth the added insurance. Has been doing well since new FitBit arrived 👍🏼

@LiliyaFitbit   I am also having these issues starting today. I woke up and my watch was off. I knew I had just charged it yesterday but I put it in the charger anyway. It turned back on. Then twice, mid-workout, I noticed it shut off. I held the button to restart but can’t even get as far as the settings because it keeps turning off. On the charger it gives short vibrations and has the logo screen and seems to cycle through turning off and on. I haven’t even had it a year! I was so happy to upgrade from the Flex 2 but now I’m going to have to go back to it until this is resolved. Please have customer service contact me. I’m going to keep trying with it.

update: did the shut off. Worked for like 5 minutes and shut down again. Then I couldn’t get it to stay on after I would take it off the charger so I factory reset it  while on the charger. Now I cant take it off and it’s stuck on the initial set up screen telling me to download the Fitbit app. The app will find it but will not connect. It gets stuck on the screen and that’s it. I’m so upset— I realized I haven’t even had it for 6 months!!

I did all of these things, including changing the watch face to a Fitbit made face. It shut off within a minute of being off the charger, even though it was at 100% when it was on the charger. From the others having issues, it seems to be a flaw in your software. When is the next update coming out? I rely on my Fitbit for my alarm clock.

This has been happening to me as well with a formerly well-functioning Versa. It began with the last software update. I rely on this for my alarm clock as well. My husband and I have been Fitbit owners for the past 5 years and have purchased 5 or 6 between us. This is the first serious issue we have encountered, but it’s a deal breaker. Either roll back the update or drop a new one that fixes this.

Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated. I spoke to the FITBIT rep and
she fixed it as I had to go back to factory settings. I now have to charge
the batter every day and a half now though.
