Versa constantly loses exercise settings

So this is very, very annoying! The Versa constantly loses the settings in the Exercise app. Things like lap settings, customized stats, auto-pause, etc. So frustrating to have to reconfigure the exercise from scratch every time. Having said that, the weird thing is not all the stats are being reset, for example pool length thankfully seems to be saved and doesn't reset.

It's even more annoying because the default settings duplicate the top/bottom stats in those selected for the middle. Why would you want the same information to take valuable "tap" space? Answer - you wouldn't!

It does make you wonder how "road tested" such products are, anyone using the device would have spotted such a frustrating issue very quickly. Let's hope they can remedy ASAP.

Well it seems like it's harder to fix than expected.

As far as I understand, it is a bug/glitch with Fitbit OS (which is already on version 2.0).

That started to happen with my Ionic when I got it at the beginning of January and it stopped happening out of nowhere (I don't think any updates were involved).

Hopefully they'll fix it. It can get reaaally annoying having to change the settings before every run/walk/workout session.

I can confirm the issue. I own an Ionic and the problem started after OS 2. I wrote a message in the Ionic forum a few days ago but it didn't get that much attention. The exercise settings get reset when you sync the watch with the Fitbit App.

It's interesting to see that's whats happening in your case. Mine stopped behaving like this long before the OS 2.0 update was pushed and everytime I sync, the settings get updated.

Which means, If I change something through the App settings for the exercise menu (Settings for each exercise) it will be updated to the watch and if I change something through the watch's exercise settings it will be updated to the App.

Did you try at any point to change the settings on the Fitbit App or the Fitbit website to make them stay the way that you wanted them to be on the Ionic?

Thank you very much @Lufalulz. So, you mean I can customize the exercise settings in the fitbit App or dashboard? Let's take an example, Treadmill. What I do in the watch I go into customize stats and there I can choose what I want to see during the exercise in the top, bottom and middle stat. Addititionally for the middle stat I can exclude items I am not interested for that particular exercise.  And those are the  settings that get reset  everytime I sync the watch.... I can't find how I could customize those settings  in the App. Maybe you found a way? I use Iphone. Thanks.

I had a look... so actually you can adjust some of the settings in the app (eg auto pause, and the auto lap counting). I hadn't noticed the ability to set those in the app before (you go to exercise shortcuts and click on the exercises, in hindsight it's quite obvious!). So that's something at least!

However you can't adjust the "Customize Stats" options in the app (on Android) or web dashboard, so these are reset every time the watch syncs. This really needs to be fixed ASAP. I don't like the defaults on many of the exercises, plus the middle stats duplicate the top/bottom stats which is frustrating to tap through!

I received my Versa yesterday and I noticed this as well. I went for a walk in the evening and set my settings for "walk" on the watch itself. Later in the evening I went for another walk and all my settings had reset to whatever was default. Thought it was just me. My blaze never used to do that. Very annoying, I hope they fix.

Yep, I've got the same issue here

Same here and it is very annoying. Also, it would be really nice to be able to order the middle stat options, so that the one you care about most starts, but you can cycle through the ones you might want to see.

Have you made the changes in the fitbit app vs on the watch?

These settings are not editable in the app. They are available on the watch only

Can this be merged with this topic? I'm assuming this forum has admins.

Same problem. Fitbit really don't know/care how to write software properly it seems.

32.10.15 update fixed this on my Versa but I had to do a factory reset after the up date then it redownloaded the update and now the custom stats bug seems to be fixed for me.

Be interested to hear if others have this issue fixed... For me with latest update (32.32.10.15) the issue is very much still present 😞

@Tich, I was able to fix one of my exercise settings using my phone app.

When I first got my Vera, every time I manually started a walk session, the Versa would try to pair with my phone GPS.  I would cancel the session, go into the Versa settings on the watch, disable GPS and then restart the manual tracking session.  For my next session, I had to do it all over again and it was driving me nuts.

Then I noticed that the Versa settings in the phone app also allowed me to set GPS, laps, etc., and once I changed the settings in the phone app, the phone app stopped wiping out / overriding the settings changes made directly on the Versa.

Hope this helps 🙂

@cBitFit many thanks - good to know! However the settings that can't be changed in the app (eg customized stats) still reset for me when the watch syncs 😞 Anyone else tried since the update?
