Just bought a pair of Fitbit versa but surprisingly that they didn't detect if we start sleeping. Unlike, a 25-dollar Miband we used to own which could detect when we went to bed and when we woke up. With versa we have to manually set it.

If your Heart Rate setting is set to "ON" and you sleep more than three hours, it should automatically detect your sleep. Are you meeting the above criteria?

Hello @SunsetRunner thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.
I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Thanks for having checked the heart rate monitor is working correctly on your watch.
At this moment, I would like to suggest you to restart your Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen, then wear your Versa a bit upper on your wrist when you're about to sleep and monitor it for the next night.
Give this a try and and let us know the outcome, if you need further assistance we'll be happy to help.
Have a great day.
