Versa is having battery issues

Hello, I had my fitbit versa for 2yrs and a Month now and this is the first time that this has happened. I got the notification that my battery was low. Normally I can still get through the rest of the day. About an hour later, it was dead. Went the charge it, took it's normal 2 hours or so. I put it back on and maybe a half hour later I felt it getting really hot on my wrist, looked down and it restarted itself and then the battery died again! I love my Versa, never had any issues before I tried restarting it and also even did a factory reset and it is still having the same problem only now its not even tracking my heart rate nor sleep and dies within a day after being charged at 100% for paying what I did id expect this device to last more than just 2 years!! Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions?

It is frustrating across the board, however they did decide to replace my watch today. Here’s to hoping it shows up soon!

I think I did update a few weeks ago. My problems with the battery draining quickly began after that. I really hope that Fitbit will stand behind their product. They used to be the best at Customer service. I had never had any issues with them, NOT fixing my problem. I have had Fitbits for the last 10 years-at least!  My Fitbit battery is only lasting about 4 hours, then dying. It went from lasting 5 days to gettimg progressively shorter until now I have to charge several times a day.  I have only had my Versa since Christmas 2018, so for a year and a half. 😭

My fitbit versa is having the same issue with not holding a charge since the update.  I completed the update on my versa and then suddenly my battery will die in about a day and a half.  I actually shutdown my versa at night so it gets a restart everyday. I contacted customer service twice and the second person allowed me to get a battery replacement and it has same issue.  Has to be software update especially since had two that did same thing.

I have had the same issues. I updated my Versa a few weeks ago, it worked fine until about a week ago. It suddenly wouldn't track steps or my heart rate.  I performed a factory restart, which worked. Except now my battery dies within 12 hours. So I have to charge it 2x per day.

I also have only had my fitbit for just under 2 years and havent had any issues up until this point.

Any thoughts on solutions?

Hi there @jalmj13 and @Mmcmillion, thanks for stopping by. I totally understand where you're coming from, thanks for the details provided about your watches' behavior. If you're experiencing issues with the battery, we find that in some cases customers charge the device incorrectly; if you want to double check our charging instructions, you can do so at How do I charge my Fitbit device?

Battery use is affected by various factors and settings. We provide tips for preventing battery drain at Can I extend my Fitbit device's battery life?

If the charging instructions and battery preservation tips don't help, meaning you're still seeing a rapid and unexplained battery drain, please let us know and we'll take a closer look.

I've seen the rest who is interacting in this thread has already a ticket with our Support Team. I'd recommend to keep the conversation with them as they'll know what's the next step to take based on your specific situation.

Sadly - my watch is totally unresponsive. I have 2 chargers. It does not work with either.

I am also having these issues for the past several days.  I have never had a problem with my Versa, and have had it for 18 months. Suddenly, I'm needing to recharge it a couple of times each day. It's also not giving me sleep details and my heart rate is reported irregularly.

I've tried all of the charging options, it was still draining very quickly. I charged it to 60% before I went to bed last night and it was dead this morning.  Now it won't even take a charge, and I've tried 2 different chargers.

I do all those tips and I charge it correctly.   Again,  keep in mind I received a replacement from you all and it acts exactly like my original watch.  It can not be a watch problem since two different watches do the same thing.  It has to be the firmware update.  I have read so many people complaining of the same thing.  When will the firmware fix be in place to solve this major issue for your customers?

fitbit has yet to get back to me and its been a week now or so and I haven't heard a peep out of your support team and now my versa is completely crap its dead. How can you guys do this to all these customers? It's clear I'm not the only one with this issue!! I demand a response by now on whats going on and what we can all do with our now dead versas!!!!

I would strongly suggest that you save the conversations with Fitbit support as evidence that you went through the recommended fixes to no avail.

I have done all of these things and I I charge it correctly.   I have contacted customer service twice.  Both wanted to monitor the battery and found I do everything I should and they did not know what could be causing the issue.  The second agent sent me a battery replacement and it does the same exact thing as my original watch/battery.  Brand new does the same thing as the old so that should tell everyone it is not the watch.  The is troubleshooting 101 at least in my opinion.  It is not the watch so it has to be something like the software update on your end. I know there is another software update coming and I would like to know how to get it immediately.

You'll just have to wait until another update. It's no use talking to the moderators or other Fitbit support.  Basically they're just like phone operators replying to your concerns from a prewritten script.  For example, if the issue is ___ then turn to page 3 and suggest ___... etc.  They know just about as much as us.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have been an AVID Fitbit user from almost the very beginning of this product and knew all the steps to preventing battery drain. I had already done everything and my Versa still does not last a full day, Usually about 15-17 hours or less. I am discontinuing wearing it in order to reduce my frustration levels. It all started after the most recent update, which is very obvious reading the boards here, so if you can flag my post and respond when a solution has been found I would really appreciate it. In the interim, my Fitbit will be in my top drawer gathering no data.

Thanks so much!

I have tried every instruction on this site getting my Fitbit to work after the last update killed it and it will not work.

Any advice ?

Contact their customer service. I did via their chat feature as the same thing happened to mine. They had me ship it to them. It finally just arrived to them after 4 weeks. I'm curious to see their response will be.

Nothing to add here.
