Versa is unable to communicate with Bluetooth.

I think the Versa has a Bluetooth problem. If you turn Bluetooth off and
restart Fitbit it asks if it is allowed to turn Bluetooth on. If you say yes
and go back to Bluetooth it will be scanning. Most of the time it does not
find Versa but if you insist and scan again and again eventually it finds
it. Unfortunately if you click on it and say PAIR quite often it comes up
with the error message "unable to communicate with Versa". When finally it
does it then syncs. I do not know if this is a matter for a future firmware
update or if it is a hardware problem so we will never have a Versa that
works. Can someone from Fitbit tell us?

My Versa hasn't synced correctly since Sunday which is the last time I charged it. Very disappointed in this fitbit and the lack of results from the Fitbit corporation since this problem has been going on for over a year

Hello guys! As my friend @Brettleggat mentioned, our team is aware of an on-going issue happening with Android phones that got updated to Android Pie 9.0 and although we haven't received an update yet, our engineers are working hard to identify a resolution as quickly as possible.

This situation is correlated solely on the Fitbit app for Android devices running the 9.0 Pie version. In other words, the Fitbit Versa will work fine on different platforms such as iOS or Windows.

I really appreciate the troubleshooting steps you'll @PattieL1108@LizzBarrios@Karlabec@JillianRock, and @Sun1079

So I just checked my Android phone settings and it is running version 5.1.1 not pie 9.0 .

What then may be the problem if it is not the upgrade for us folks that have older phones?

Thank you!

My S9+ had the 9.0 pie update. I had just got my Versa and did my phone update a few days later. I have been so frustrated with it not syncing....at least I finally know why. Is there going to be a fix or am I gonna return this and go back to Garmin?

Isn't it so frustrating? They have no problem selling these expensive
watches and there is no excuse for not being 9.0 compatible yet. This fix
should be a couple of days. I honestly am starting to think they just don't
care.

If I wasn't outside my return date I would have returned it already.

For now my versa continues to collect dust in the drawer. Sadly.

Hi everyone thank you for your input. The issue with Android Pie is being investigated and hopefully the team will come up with a fix soon. If you are still having issues syncing your Versa with your phone you can try going to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there. Restart your phone and restart your device. After this try syncing them. Also, if you are using an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on. You can find additional tips here.

Let me know how it goes!

You can try to sync or reset Bluetooth or the phone all you want. Until
your app team figures out a way to have the app work with Android pie which
has been out for many months the watch is useless. The only thing the watch
is for it does not do. So incredibly frustrating.

I know how you feel.  I have had my Versa many months.  I am using a Windows 10 laptop.  I have been through fitbit for almost two months trying to resolve blue tooth issues with my watch. Customer service is poor.  They go over the standard questions to resolve the problem and to no avail can not.   They have a problem, do not want to admit it and continue to kick the can down the street with a new person with every new call.   I even went as far as to ask for a down grade of a fit bit charge, my wife has one and have no problems.  They have poor customer service and can not think out of the box.

Hello,

Any update for us versa/android users? The app also does not work on my Windows 10 laptop.

I have an older version of Android ver 5.1.1 so it is not just the new version having problems.

Please advise status and resolution timeframe.

Thank you.

In reply to you question, I do not have a smart phone only my windows 10 laptop.  I was able to update the Versa using the app and a Fit bit usb blue tooth adapter.  I bought this on Amazon for about $10.00.

I turned off the blue tooth on my computer, plugged in the adapter and the app was able to pick up the Versa.  The problem was it still cannot pick up Wifi, still  working on that.  Because of updating only on blue tooth, it took about 24 hours.  I still cannot update the watch face.  It works, but because of the Wifi not working, the apps for music are useless.   Will let you know when I figure out the Wifi problem.

I admire members who can keep their cool while reading this irrelevant and honestly disprespectful answer. No wonder FitBit might bankrupt with this level of service.

Hi Vaughan41,

I cant even vote for you.....that's how poor their apps are !! and agree fully with yr sentiments as having so many issues so early in my ownership experience is very poor indeed.
